I enjoyed Prof Ba's class. She was very enthusiastic about the subject and really cared about our understanding/learning. She was always willing to answer questions and clarify points. My only complaint is that she did not give any feedback on the paper, presentation, or final which were all due at the end of class.

She only held office hours one day a week. She gave out a FOUR page study guide for the midterm that only had 10 MC questions, 2 short answer, and 1 long answer. This was not a study guide of notes or anything. Each bullet point had about 4 questions attached to it, and they were extremely specific. She doesn't post lecture notes

This course new and it is hard to describe, but if you like Asia, security policy, and regional relations, you'll like it. One midterm, term paper, and questions about the reading, but it is not overwhelming. Her lectures are interactive and engaging, and she loves when you ask questions or bring up topics. She expects a lot but isn't unreasonable.

Alice is a great professor and has made me fall in love with the politics of Southeast Asia. The region is a great case study for an aspiring IR, Asia Policy major. I would say, however, this class is not easy. You have to work so hard writing 4 papers, 1 midterm, and 1 final (both blue book.) 2nd Writing! I expect a B, but I know I truly learned.

Honestly, I wish I took 240 with someone else. Her TA graded everything, and she was a very harsh grader. I would get Bs on papers that I spent days on and even asked Prof. Ba questions about. Her lectures struck me as very scatter brained. The UN simulation was pretty cool, but I don't think it's worth taking the class just for that.

She's my favorite teacher so far. She's really passionate about what she teaches, I've never learned so much in one class. She's a little bit crazy, but it makes the lectures more fun. The UN Simulation at the end is really fun.

Prof. Ba is an amazing and smart person, but a very hard grader. Our semester is made up of 4 grades (2 exams and 2 essays) reducing the margin for error. If you want to pass, read every article and every Speigel reading (you'll thank me later.) Come to lecture and office hrs bc they ARE helpful. PSA: IF YOU'RE NOT IN THE MAJOR AVOID THIS CLASS!

Great professor. Our class was in a pretty big lecture hall but she always asked for participation. She made you want to give your opinion and think critically about different subjects. Never avoided calling on people even if you sounded like a 50 year old chain smoker like one girl in my class who demanded to speak at every possible opportunity.

Dr. Ba is respected in her field, and is passionate about the subjects she teaches. She assigns a lot of reading material, and her lecture slides are not available online, so be sure to attend class and take notes. Pretty approachable, however can be tough to schedule office hours with, and is slow to respond to emails. Overall the class want bad

Intellingent professor. Too many readings. Doesn't share slides so try to record her lectures to listen back on. Four papers based on readings. 2 mainly essay-based exams.

Prof Ba is respected in her feild and an inspiration in the classroom. She is consistent and a joy to listen to because she is clearly passionate. There are a lot of readings, but I found them very helpful. Before this class I knew nothing about SEA and now I feel like I know more than I ever expected.

She's my adviser and I had to take the class. She's tough, that's for sure, but she is also passionate. I need to take another class of hers still, and I know it'll be a struggle, but in a good way. LOTS of reading. She did offer extra credit opportunities, but the final grades were very unclear and never posted. If you want to learn she'll teach.

There were some good things about her POSC240 class, but for every good there was something bad. Her lecture heavy classes are miserably boring and very hard to get invested in, so if you want to do well, make sure you study cause the class doesn't help. The UN Simulation at the end of the semester is a load of fun though.

Professor Ba is my favorite Professor. She knows her stuff and can articulate it unless she gets behind and starts umming a bit much. She is very approachable and is available to meet with students during office hours and by scheduled visits. The simulation at the end is a great experience and fun. Papers can be a little challenging, A+++++ Prof.

Prof Ba clearly loved what she taught, but sometimes threw her own personal political views in there and made the lectures kind of redundant. The readings aren't important for class, but they show up on the tests so make sure you read them before the tests! Her TA grades papers and often times you can't understand that comments or what u did wrong

She was super nice in the class but she either go way to fast in one area or spend way too much time in another. She gives out essays that a very difficult and I had to struggle with. If you do not have to take this class do not.

Dont take if you have a full schedule b/c readings take time. Must submit at least 2 discussion questions based on readings 8 times over the semester. Doesnt post slides online so absolutely go to class. Must write 4 out of 5 4pg papers based on readings. Really smart and helpful, but difficult if you cant dedicate time. 1 midterm & final

Very passionate about international relations! You can tell she knows her field and is excited to share her knowledge with her students! There is quite a bit of reading but the class is well worth the work.
