Comment:
Opened my mind to how broken our system is. While everyone else ate up the drivel of the capitalists like Dashaneo, Burke made t clear capitalism was doomed to fail. Now his teachings are a reality as the banking system fails, the rich get richer, and workers are commodities that are easily replaces with low cost Chinese workers.

I normally don't give bad reviews, but this guy was a loose cannon - totally unreceptive to student questions or feedback. He did offer some views on social policies that you'd not see the Oprah crowd getting behind. His personality skeeved me out a bit (reminded me of a cross between Tom Clancy and John Wayne Gacy.) A fair enough grader.

Comment:
Marxian Economics was the worst class I've ever taken. It was supposed to be a study on Marx; with Burke it was a daily bash on communism and the united states. He was completely close-minded.

Every Econ. Major should have to take one of his courses. Challenges the logic of everything you've learned in your other classes (even if in the end its right after all). Doesn't matter which of his courses you take, each lecture is just a raving tirade against the status quo. No use taking notes.

Melvin Burke...where to begin? Nod and smile at what he says and utilize some of his "language" in the papers you get an A. He's not interested in students thinking too much. It's all black and white. Doesn't pay much attention to your work. A natural narcisist. I pasted in the same paper twice and he didn't notice.

This guy is a great prof. He is funny, speaks his mind, and is open to other viewpoints. He's a socialist, so it's great getting another point of view on stuff instead of the same boring rhetoric. Classes are easy, just show up and do the papers and you're all set!
