The best professor at CofC. You will learn so much from dr nunan as long as you put in the effort. The material can be difficult but if you are confused and reach out to him he will work so hard to help you understand it. Truly the kindest professor and you will learn so much.

It honestly breaks my heart that people gave Dr. Nunan a bad rating. He is just such a sweet guy. The truth is the material in this class is just really difficult. He really takes an interest in your development in understanding the material and makes it easy to pass, you just have to show up and do the work. Give him a chance!!

12MIN quizzes, read or don't read: you'll learn to celebrate a 76. The last 72 hours with Nunan:Emailed final study guide 36 hours before exam. Emailed at 10:30PM to announce review session at 10AM next morning. Hands back 1/3 parts of second exam taken weeks ago after taking the final this morning. Not surprised, was the status quo all semester.

If this class is not a requirement for you to graduate DO NOT TAKE IT. I need this class for my concentration and I am graduating this May. This class is super hard because he makes it hard. I have friends who have taken this class and passed with an A. The quizzes are difficult. They are usually 12 mins and are 8/9 questions. Exams are very hard

Attendance doesn't count but if you meet with him about your grade, it's the first thing he brings up. most students dropped after midterms, requires over 40 pages of reading per class and only allows 12 minutes with one attempt to answer 8 arbitrary Q's. Tough grader, condescending, and disregards the needs of the students. Says a D is passing :(

It breaks my heart to say this, he's nice deep inside and means well, but this class was excruciating on all levels. His powerpoints were poorly organized, his reading quizzes 9 questions in 15-mins timed, HARD questions, lectures boring, tests extremely hard. I'm an A student but I'm worried about not passing. I do all the homework. I go to class.

Prof Nunan's class was incredibly boring. His lectures were just a repeat of the readings. Quizzes and tests were incredibly difficult for no apparent reason. I did every single reading and watched every assigned film and still had a lot of trouble. It's a lot of work every week with long readings (very boring/confusing) and a film to watch.

Took his philosophy in film class that was the worst film class I've ever taken. He focuses more on the readings than the films & his quizzes are ridiculous. He says attendance isn't mandatory but makes a big deal about it when people skip. He sends 3 emails a day & email us the first assignment during finals week of LAST semester! Would avoid!!

He assigns a lot of readings and expects a lot of work from students, and often goes over time limit. He is a tough grader, but his grading scale reflects that. I got an A, but there were moments I was sure I would get a B. He talks quietly, which can be challenging. He is a fine professor, but would not take again.

Took this class as a Humanities elective expecting for it to be a fairly easy class due to it being an Introduction course. Nunan was a VERY tough grader when it came to tests as well as essays. Most of lecture time was him rambling about random topics instead of specifics of the course. If you miss class and don't take notes, you won't pass.

Extremely difficult for an intro level women and gender studies class. His lectures are unorganized and hard to follow.. grading is harsh as well and comments came off as rude.

Hardest class I've ever taken. I wasn't expecting to have a male professor teaching a women's and gender studies course. He always brought in logic and philosophy when teaching. His grading scale was outrageous and his feedback is extremely critical. He grades and teaches this intro class as an upper level

This class came to me very easily atleast. However if you are the type of person to miss a class you might as well not show up. Also do the homework and visit SI they help a lot. If you don't you still ought to get an ok grade.

Nunan is a cool guy who cares a lot about his students, but his overall course structure and material is PAINFUL. He's extremely long winded and none of his emails or homework assignments make sense. His lectures are great and more helpful than any online resources, but he doesn't take attendance which is where most people get lost. GO TO CLASS.

Pro tip: never take an online logic class. It is already a difficult subject to get a grip on, but it is a lot harder when you have to watch lectures through OAKS. For some reason Nunan chooses complicated and obscure examples to explain things--only making it worse...

Nunan was great, I was really passionate about what he was teaching and was really interested in what students had to say. He was good at promoting discussion, and the class was a lot of fun. He's really interested in film, so we watched a bunch and tied them to what we were learning in class. He does expect a lot from you though, you have to try

Philosophy and Feminism was an amazing course and it was even better to have Professor Nunan as a professor! The class is discussion based and the lectures will get tedious if no one participates. He does do frequent reading quizzes so keep up with the readings. ( they are short usually) He is not a tough grader but you should definitely study!

If you are lazy and don't do the readings everything else will be difficult due to frequent quizzes and discussions on the material. Professor Nunan is a spectacular educator and made it easy to better understand readings and ask for help. He gave great feedback and graded fairly too! If you don't put the work in this course will be difficult!

This professor was AWFUL. He's the type of teacher who is difficult not in a challenging way but by the structuring of tests and arbitrary grading. Don't listen to those who say he's sooo great because he challenges your views - all he does is wax poetic about freshman level social policies. DO NOT TAKE ANY OF HIS CLASSES, it'll be a mistake.

Comment:
His lecture is not easy (especially for the phil. of law) but he is not a harsh grader. He would like to help any students before the exams. He does not take an attendance but he usually makes pop quizzes so if you skip the class, you might miss the quiz. No tests, only midterm and final. Besides, two paper and pop quizzes.
