I took two psychology courses with him back in 1980. a bit eccentric, but he was a very good teacher and really knew his stuff. he joined a friend of mine and myself for lunch in the cafeteria one winter day. he was very personable and down to earth. He seemed to care and was very committed to the students.

Saw him at the A&P once in the summer. He was nice. Someone created a drama by taking notes off his desk once while he was doing some sort of a demonstration blindfolded. He contorted grades for that test. Kinda unusual. I think he did it as an experiment to see how people reacted. Seemed somewhat unusual.

He is such a character and great professor. His notes get somewhat confusing, but is willing to explain it further. Don't use book at all. Just make sure you wrote everything he has on the board and says cause it will be used on the quizzes. Quizzes are easy if you go to class an ld take notes. Lots of opportunity to get bonus! Highly recommended!!

He is an awesome teacher and he also have really helpful study tips. If you study and come to class you should not fail. He say you should use your book but i haven't touched my book since i bought it. Test are very easy too only 25 question each test except finals.

Outstanding teacher. My prior knowledge in AP Psychology was very helpful and Dr. Balch basically reviewed everything for me. His lectures are boring but he gives students everything needed for quizes so students would have the neccsary information needed for the class.

most boring class ever!! he talks nonstop and writes so much on the board; there is a test every other week, after 30 mins of lecture, and he never reviews for tests, so if you miss a class, your screwed for that test. very unclear when trying to explain things, i recommend finding a different teacher.

Had him for 100, 256, and 452. If you attend class, pay attention, take notes and look over them - you will get a good grade. If you do not get a good grade, you simply were not paying attention. Great man. Extremely intelligent! Got a high A in all classes. (never read books either)

This class is really easy. It's a joke. He writes notes on the board, and the exact information is on the quizzes. A BOOK IS NOT NEEDED! DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY! Although it's an easy A, he is so boring. He's really nice though. Just so boring.. so easy though. oh and he always goes over! so don't schedule a class right after it or you will be late!

Hes a great teacher, hes clear and helpful, and makes good analogies. Attendance isnt mandatory but you might still wanna show up for the notes because thats all the quizes are about. I wouldnt personally buy or rent the book if your a good notetaker and show up to all the classes, but if your planning to skip you may wanna reconsider. overall easy

Dr. Balch was awesome! HE was one of the sweetest and most knowledgeable professors I ever had and he knows all of his students by name. He writes all of your notes on the board so if you just go to class and study, you'll get an A. Everyone has to take Psych 100, and I would definately pick him!

This man is the worse. He seems to know alot about the subject, but he does not make it interesting for the class. Morning classes are the worse and he is not helpful at all. Going to see him at his office was one of the rudest experiences in my life. He even makes fun of some of his students in class. Would have taken a diff prof!!!

Where do I even begin with this man. Grade is based off of 7 quizzes and the final. You must go to class to get the notes because that is all the quizzes are based off of. Don't take an early morning class or you will not stay awake.

If your only taking this as an elective, then it's probably not worth taking. DO NOT get the book. EVERYTHING that is on the quizzes he writes on the board, and you never use the book in class. Better be in class every time or you'll miss notes. Quizzes aren't easy, my lowest grades were a 19. Somehow I pulled out a B+ but studying is a must.
