I didnt love much about this Professor. I felt we couldve had better communication throughout the semester. You definitely need to gain friends during the semester to get through the semester. Make sure to participate (majority of the classmates I had didnt participate after a while). He may be a better professor in class but not online.

I had Big Jim 16 years ago and he is the most memorable professor because he taught me how to write. His paper format stuck with me for life and I went from being a B/C highschool student to an A/B college/gradschool student and I know it is because I learned to write. Learn to write his way and you can apply it to every paper you will ever write.

I hated this class!!! I did not learn anything from this class. Class is composed of debates about random stuff and then we had to write one essay a week. He is a tough grader with his crazy evaluation system!

Big Jimmy is CRAZY. I took his class just because it was the only class with the schedule I could attend. It was the worse professor I have ever seen. I couldnt stand his nonsense jokes. Thanks God the class continued online, because I couldnt make it through the end. Its a boring professor and you will not learn anything from him!

Ok, Big Jim is one character. First, I thought he was crazy... After 2 weeks, I started to understand his methods and now I really appreciate his way of teaching. If you have an open mind, it'll be easier to get through his classes and you'll learn a lot. I really would like to take his classes again in the future.

Professor James Big Jim Cochran is very different from most teachers. He has a very strange sense of humor which sometimes made class enjoyable but not really. You will write about 10 researched argument papers and you have to write and follow his own outline of his own writing style. Its very confusing and makes your papers sound too wordy.

A phenomenal teacher who I would take again. His disposition is well suited for a classroom because he has a sense of humor and tells a lot of great jokes. He makes his students laugh. And at the same time, he is teaching his class logic and writing skills. I have learned so much from him, and I can write better and think more clearly.

Big Jim is definitely an interesting character. He is very smart but also a little strange. He had our class write one paper a week. Twice during the semester he gave individual counseling sessions during class time to mention what we needed to improve on. His class definitely felt like more of a philosophy class than a writing class at times.

This guy is funny and smart, but his classes are very long (3 hours straight with only a 20 min break) and it is mostly lecture based. Be prepared to use your books that are required for this class, you will need it! Also, he is a tough grader, so if you don't follow the outline he gives in the beginning of the semester your screwed.

Professor Cochran, otherwise known as "Big Jim", is quite the character. I was taken back by his humor and sarcasm as they are quite vulgar and dry. His lectures are filled with him mindlessly rambling about nothing pertaining to the class. Weekly essays are based on the "debates" you will have in class with peers. This class was nearly unbearable!

I hated this class with a burning passion. He rants on for 3 hours about useless things that have nothing to do with the class. I learned nothing; waste of my time. At the beginning of the course he lefts you choose how many papers to write. He also gives you an outline of how to write a paper; if you dont follow that outline you will not get an A.

The course is debates in class and writing about it. The students choose all of the topics too. He will make you see things from a different perspective. You wont always agree with him and you dont have to. If you dont agree with his side for a topic, you dont have to support it and he will still give you a good grade if you deserve it.
