Comment:
Professor Vainberg really cares about his students. He gives his lectures in real-time through pen and paper. At the beginning of the lecture, he would take some time to help with homework questions, so I recommend starting the homework early. The grading scale is great. You will use WebAssign which has many resources to help you with homework.

I liked Vainberg. I took him for business calc. Only thing I did not like is sometimes he would give pop quizzes. He is however very passionate about teaching and really wants everyone to understand calc. He is a little bit slow and out dated in his methods because he is very old but I thought he was funny and enjoyed him. (GRADING SCALE IS BOMB).

Do not take a math class with this professor; hes awful. He is scatterbrained, his accent is difficult to understand, his methods of teaching are overly-complicated, and his quizzes and tests are unfair. At the start of the semester, one of the first things he said was that the grading policy had been changed because of all the Fs last semester.

He has tests that have very few questions so if you mess up on one, your grade for that test might drop. Overall the tests were not that hard and its based on the homework you do. His lectures are long and he definitely has an accent but the homework can be done without watching his lectures. He uses a online textbook for tests, quizzes, and hw.

He gives webwork based hw every week and it is easy to follow as long as you pay attention in class. His quizzes are given at the end of class so you do not have a ton of time to complete them but it is manageable, and the lowest two grades get dropped. His tests are very similar to the review he gives out which makes studying very straight forward

Very hard to understand his English. Is a hard grader when it comes to quizzes. He always stands behind you while taken a test to make you nervous. Doesnt explain things to well.

So calc is hard anyways but if you do his practice exams they are really similar. I went to his office hours and he sat down with me until I got it. Pretty curved grading scale and drops two worst quizzes. If you go to class and pay attention you should be fine. He has an accident but it's not hard to understand.

So, the saving grace of this class is that an A is 85-100, B is 70-85, and C is 55-70. He has a thick Russian accent but his English is very good. Webwork for homework and usually one quiz per week. These will make or break your grade. He does practice tests, but only about 40% of those same problems end up on the tests. Super nice guy though.

Hard to understand and couldn't use projector correctly so it was very hard to see board. Quizzes were once a week out of 10 pts, exams were 15 questions or less so be sure to study his sample test. Assigns easy non-graded hw but his tests were entirely different and very hard. Nice guy but you gotta work hard even with his 15 point grading scale.

He thoroughly explained all of the topics, but his exams were way too short. We literally had 2 exams that were 8 questions long. If you miss one question, that's automatically a B.

Professor Vainberg gives you good opportunities to improve your grade. He drops the two worst quizzes (you get like 9 total) and the final can replace your worst grade. The sample problems are almost the exact same problems on the test. Came in not being too good at math but got an A in the class. Just have to study

Tests are pretty straightforward. Gives sample problems for tests that relate directly to them. Final was less than 15 questions (no multiple choice) but was VERY easy. Half the class passed with an A or B this semester. I bombed several quizzes and a test, but came out with a B. Anything is possible apparently.

This man can not teach to save his life. Very rude if you keep asking questions. Homework is on webwork. I suggest reading the textbook and getting a chegg account because this man can not teach anything!

15 point grading scale. Gives lots of homework, but it's never for a grade. Quiz and test heavy. He's Russian, and often struggles to explain concepts in a different way because he doesn't have the vocabulary to do so. He struggles to operate technology, so sometimes he spent half of the class trying to do so. Occasionally takes attendance.

literally the worst teacher ever do not take him if you want to understand what you're teacher is saying he has a very thick accent. when asked a question like why would you do this in a math problem he wouldn't understand the question. A 54 was a C which says ALOT about how awful of a teacher he is

He does have an accent, but honestly, it's not hard to understand him. His practice test are very close to actual test, he's willing to help and answer questions if you ask. He can get ahead of himself sometimes during lecture and will skip steps, but he'll explain if you just raise your hand and ask. If you study, you should be fine.

He has an accent. He assignments homework which is not for a grade but instead to help you understand him. He will have quizzes every week so do the homework. He also sends a practice exam before each exam it is recommended you do it because the exams are just alike

You will get fairly use to his accent. Quizes are only 2 questions, and test are typically around 10. If you correct him during class, you get a point, which is 10 points on your next quiz. He has his own grading scale A - 85, B - 72, C - 52 D - 45.
