Close is the best history teacher at Eastern! I don't know how he hasn't gotten all fives for easiness. I've taken 3 classes with him, so a 9 tests and 3 papers, and never got lower than a 94. you learn ALOT from him, just write down what he says in lectures, study about 20 of the terms from the handouts, and you'll do great

I took the 2hour and 45 minute class on Wednesday nights. I'm not a history major, but the class was in general easy. Long, boring, but to the point. Three tests and one five page essay. Tests are impossible if you can't memorize things (nearly 40-50 terms each time and an essay)

Professor Close is a great professor. You won't mind him if you're not a history major but if you are a history major you'll love his classes. He's a funny guy who inserts humor into his long lectures. This is a very note extensive course but it pays off. Each test you are provided with a study guide covering everything for the exam.

Love the guy, hated the class. He just talks for the entire class period & its hard to know what is importnat. He gives out a list of terms that are possibly on the test, but if you didn't catch those terms from the lecture, you're out of luck. I ended up using Wikipedia. Class was boring for me but he made it a little better..nice guy.

Awesome professor. Knows what he is talking about and is able to portray his lectures so that we understand too. Exams are mid level difficulty but he gives a study guide for each (final included) that is exactly what is on the exam. Just study that and your golden. He doesn't use th textbook references during his lectures so watch out!

One of the nicest professors at Eastern. A true kind hearted man. His class can get a bit dry at times, but it also has moments where it is extremely entertaining. His tests are pretty easy and his paper is simple to write. He is a fair grader and he is very willing to help out his students in whatever way possible. Great man, great class.

Close is a cool guy. He's really laid back and doesn't put a whole lot of emphasis on work. In fact you do almost nothing except take notes and write a couple papers. He really knows what he's talking about, and is very helpful and clear.

I enjoyed this class and loved the content, especially in the way Dr. Close presented it. Dr. Close is fair and easygoing, often making jokes throughout the class. He usually lets the class out early in a 3-hour class. There is a lot of work, but Dr. Close does not grade hard, but fair.

Dr. Close is a warm, wonderful person and a true Southern gentleman. He's easy-going and interesting, the workload is fair, and overall I would take him again. Compared to some of the other so-called 'teachers' in the History Department, he stands head and shoulders above those arrogant, egotistical posers.
