I really enjoyed my time in this class and thought Professor Heap was a very good teacher. He gives pop quizzes through the semester and chapter quizzes. I strongly recommend you begin working on your final project early and update it regularly.

Phil's econ class is a lot of interesting lectures and examples, but he gets the point across well. I really liked his class and definitely would recommend it. Friday tests tho, which are 5 questions and honestly not too bad just because he drops 5 of them at the end of the semester.

Dont listen to the awful reviews. If you show up to class and respect him and not ask stupid questions youll be fine. His class is tough but its not too bad. If you take good notes in class and listen you will be fine.

I sat through this class the whole semester and his teaching style was so confusing. I went to help sessions and talked with him after class. Yes i got a C which is average but people go into the final with F's. He does heavily curve which is how I went from an D to C. Stressful gen-ed!! Caused me a lot of panic attacks & im not a stressful person

Econ is a tough class whatever the professor you take. Heap is a good choice, however. Just make sure you do your readings (very emphasized), pay attention in class, and take notes on the things he says, as that is what is very often on the test.

Phil is a funny professor. He would always use funny examples like beer or cigarettes to engage his students. Knows his stuff and if you pay attention and do the readings you will be fine. Only downside is that he is a hardass grader but he curves heavy to help his students.

I took this class for gen-ed credit because it sounded interesting to me at the time, but if you are taking this: good luck, tests are hard, and be ready to put in the work. Don't be discouraged though, Heap does a good job at being fair to his students too.

AWFUL. Heap accused 40+ students of cheating on an open note final exam because they looked up one question which he reworded so it wasnt in your text book. He never specified the parameters of to which degree of open note it was but he effectively failed all of those students. He is a bully, stubborn, and will not admit hes wrong.

Incredible teacher, doesn't take any crap from students but expects great things of his students. attendance not mandatory but if you miss lectures it's gonna be rough. Curves heavily, tests are fairly specific. Holds office hours on weekends which really shows he goes the extra mile. Humorous lecturer.

Plain and simple, if you aren't an economics major/if you are looking to fulfill the requirement and not be depressed, do not take phil heap. He's an acquired taste. You'll either love him or dislike him there is no in-between. He uses fun examples to engage the class when he teaches like beer, cigarettes, etc. He knows his stuff. He's just tough.

Enrollment is coming up! FOR FALL 2020! Do NOT take him. You will regret it!! Especially if econ isn't your thing and you aren't willing to dedicate all of your time to interpret his class. So intimidating. Sunday study sessions do not help. Class is a waste of time and doesn't make sense. I always went to everything. Office hrs suck too. DON'TAKE

Professor Heap is extremely intelligent; he has great analogies in his lectures. But it will be the hardest class of your semester. I only received a B after reading the textbook every night, going to office hours weekly, and attending the review sessions. If youre willing to do the work youll be ok.

Incredibly unhelpful, unprofessional, and uncaring. He seems to bully and ridicule his students to inflate his own ego. While hes intelligent, and knows his material, he has not the first clue on how to translate it and make it accessible for students. Avoid this professor at all costs, you will not have a good semester or final grade.

Read some of the reviews before I took his class and thought how hard could it be? I was so wrong, whatever you do avoid having him as your professor. If you do take him make sure he knows who you are (go to office hours, raise your hand, ask questions, etc.)

Heap is a great Economics professor. He is intelligent and doesn't just lecture about definitions straight from the book. He actually teaches the material and connects it to current economic problems students face. (Did a whole lecture on why college is so expensive) He is a very intense grader though. Hard work and office hour visits necessary.

Hardest proffesor that I have ever encountered. Gives a lot of pop quizzes that are mainly on the seperate readings he assigns. If you mess up a little bit he marks it wrong. Would not reccomend taking his class.
