I'm a Masters student following the Soul Beliefs course online. I find Prof. Hamilton very engaging, clear & also funny. Surprised to see all the negative comments about his lecture style, but maybe it's a cultural difference (I'm based in Europe). I'm not overly familiar with the biology behind the concepts, but he makes it clear & easy to follow.

We were his last class before he retired I think, so he was pretty lax and gave lots of extra credit. His exams were fairly easy if you studied and he did curve a lot as well. Averaged a B throughout the class and ended up with an A.

not a fun class! his exams were hard because he puts so much questions about statements from his lectures, which requires you to memorize every detail he says in lecture! his study guide is a joke!!! it doesnt help prepare you at all for the exams! everyone complained about that in my class!! its a hard class for 100 level course! stay away!

Easy bonus points if you go to class, (usually up to 20 but he gave 24). Read the textbook and get a good grasp on the concepts and you'll do well. He gives a nice curve on exams which helped me out. Studied 1 hour for the final and still got a B+ in the class. Nice guy too.

Hamilton is a great professor! He loves his job and his students and his lectures are always very interesting. He himself is a slow talker but a real good guy that you want to pay attention. GO TO CLASS! He provides extra credit and READ THE BOOK! The exams are fair and use both book and lecture. If you try, you'll get an A for sure.

i can see how he tries to make the class interesting. BUT! his class is boring and his tests are sooooooo hard. His class lectures do not help at all for the exam. I spent like 40 hours to study for each test and my grades weren't good.. Seriously... if you can, try to switch out

Had Prof. Hamilton for Soul Beliefs. His lectures were a little dry and it was difficult to pay attention at times, but I really did like him. Awesome, genuine professor, but you have to be prepared to take notes and force yourself to pay attention. The class in general though was fantastic. My favorite at Rutgers.

Professor Hamilton is a nice guy, but by far the worst professor I have ever had at Rutgers. His class lectures do not help at all whatsoever for the exams, and there is absolutely nothing you can do to properly prepare yourself. switch out NOW

If you get Hamilton for psych, you have to make sure you read the book word for word because most of the exam is straight from the book. He gives some extra credit in class, but it's not enough to change your grade by a letter. He has a terrible grading system. He gives extra points to those failing, but won't bump up a B+ to an A even by 1 point

His exams cover material from both the textbook and the lecture. The exam questions are really hard and you need to pretty much memorize the textbook. His lectures are pretty boring and it's easy to doze off into your own world. He gives a few extra credit points if you go to class but they're definitely not enough to bring up a bad exam grade.

Hamilton is definitely a sweet, genuine and good-hearted man, but his teaching method is awful. Barely anything he goes over in lecture is actually on the exam, and lecture is INCREDIBLY boring. If you cant memorize the textbook you are doomed. Extra credit is good but not enough. I always loved psych but this class spoiled it for me.

His lectures can get very bland, and boring but in return you get extra credit. It's pretty easy to get an A. That doesn't mean you don't have to work for it though! You have to read alot. You prob can take an easier prof, but if you have this guy it's not too bad either.

Eh, the class was interesting for the first couple of weeks...then it just got inexplicably boring to go...only reason why i went was cuz he offered extra credit to people who came...had to study hard for exams, but an A is possible...i got an A on first exam, C+ on Second, A on final, and got the A...take an easier professor if you can (Jacobs)

This guy is so useless and needs to retire. He gives plenty of extra credit during lecture but you want to kill yourself if you go. His lectures are never useful and his exams are easy except that he puts completely random statements he says in lecture on the exam that test useless knowledge. Long story short, he sucks switch now

I definitely did not give this class my all. But, the teacher IS difficult. Exams are 70 questions, lecture & text. He tells you what's on the exam but in very general terms. His questions, however, are very specific! Plus, not to mention how boring lecture was, with only a few slides that had 0 info. You have to pay attention & write what he says.

Gives plenty of extra credit during lecture (about 20pts out of ~300), but I only got 8pts because I went less than 5 times the whole semester, still got an A. Lecture-specific information is referenced in ~10/70 of exam questions, so if you're not confident in acing everything else, go to lecture. MUST READ THE CHAPTERS AT LEAST 1x BEFORE EXAMS.

His voice is kinda boring, but the material itself is pretty interesting, and he tries to make the class fun. Go to every class because he tends to give lots of extra credit, and make sure you read the textbook because like 80% of the questions come directly from the book. Overall a pretty easy class.
