Took his class during the summer, worst experience. Taught my self via youtube and Khan Academy. His online lectures were hard to follow, there was no partial credit unless you beg his TA's for partial credit. But in the end, there was a curve.

Try not to take his class. Boring. I learned more from the book then from the lectures. Tests were more from the end of chapter problems. The test average in my section was a C. He says we did very well? How, if the average in class is a C?

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. He is very condescending when you ask questions and claims to be accessible outside of class but never responds to emails. He is not understanding and does not seem to care about his students at all. The average for all 3 exams was a D and he claims that we did very well. If I could give him 0 stars I would.

HORRIBLE PROFESSOR. Avoid at all costs!!! I'm on track to fail his class and will be taking physics II elsewhere!

He is very disappointing. I don't understand how I went from a B in Physics 1 to a fail in his class. He doesn't do test reviews because "he doesn't have time". He goes over derivations of equations rather than actual test material. In fact, his tests also deviate from his lectures. I agree with other poor ratings. How can you have a 3.8 and fail??

The man does not teach physics, he just shows you how equations are derived and encourages you to "read your textbook," then gives tests which make up 90% of your grade where you mostly just do math. Gives ludicrous amounts of partial credit though.

Lectures will bore you to death with proofs instead of actually learning the material needed to pass. He can never be reached outside of class, he answers at most half of his emails. When we had to transition to online classes he was non existent until test day. One of the worst professors I've ever had. Don't take him at all. It's not worth it.

Dr. Aktas is a professor who will not teach you if you do not understand the material. Do not take his class, I have a 3.8 GPA and have not been able to pass either of the exams we have taken. He is difficult to understand and doesn't actually teach his class. If you have him for physics 2 you will teach yourself.

Comment:
Dr. Aktas knows his stuff. Lectures typically consist of proofs and practically no worked problems. If you consider not going to class, at least just go and listen. Gives multiple one question quizzes throughout the semester as listed on the syllabus. Quizzes and tests come straight off the homework. Seemed generous w/ grading all things considered

Comment:
Expect 4-5 one-question quizzes and 2-3 Exams + a Final to make up your entire grade. Questions are nearly identical to assigned homework problems. Lecture is disorganized and generally unhelpful. Attend just enough to know when the next quiz will be, and show up for that. Otherwise, focus on homework. He posts lectures online. Slow to email.

Comment:
Dr. Aktas is a decent lecturer, when it comes to exams, please study the example problems inside and out. There have been cases where students don't show up to class and miss quizzes. Show up to class and also know your proofs. His favorite example problems are proofs. Know that what most of what you will learn comes from example problems.

This was definitely not an easy class, but it's the material that makes it hard, not Aktas. He has lecture videos online solving every type of problem you'll need, and the tests are similar to textbook problems and his examples. Go to class, listen, take notes, and do practice problems outside of class. Lastly, try to understand, not just memorize.

Dr. Aktas is honestly one of the worst professors I have ever been taught by. The way he teaches is not helpful, and it is difficult to understand what he is even trying to teach. Physics is already a difficult subject, so when you include a professor that is boring, irritating, and a tough grader, it makes the class almost impossible to pass.

Hes absolutely awful. Avoid at all costs. Stuff you learn in his online videos are quite confusing when you try to apply it to the homework and the tests. Better if you rely on the textbook, but be warned: the book may not be reliable on his tests either.

You're better off learning everything on your own such as looking at the class notes and the online lectures. I don't know why Aktas is still at UNCC but he needs to be fired. He confuses the whole class and constantly makes mistakes. He has lost all credibility according to me and a ton of other students. His lectures are pointless and boring too.

He is a solid choice if you want a teacher to explain the underlying concepts of physics. Derived equations often which allowed me to understand what the equation means and how to transform it. Gives a few helpful examples but the best physics examples come from expert ta. Tests are not hard at all if you know what you are doing.

Going to class is nearly pointless. He messes up nearly all of his example problems making it difficult to take notes. He does not give tests back and threatened to take points off of tests if you wanted to review your test and there wasn't a grading mistake. Said there would be no friction problems on test 1, then gave us a test with half friction

Arguably the worst teacher at UNCC. I took Dr. Yawo for network theory (Dr. Yawo is amazing at teaching and loves and cares about his students) and Dr. Yawo taught me everything about physics 2 in network It's a shame they don't suggest taking Network 1 before physics 2. It would help a lot IMO

Does nothing to make the class interesting, or more helpful. Once class starts its a lecture straight to the end. I've had this course with another professor who did a much better job, and actively tried to engage students and did his best to make sure they understood. Halfway trough the course most students stopped coming to class

We literally have 3 tests in the semester and that's what you're graded upon. Good luck passing this course especially with a professor like him. All he does is derive the formula and do a problem that is totally irreverent towards the tests. Avoid if possible!
