Great Professor, really knows her stuff on American Indian Culture and Literature. She will be flexible with you just talk to her, she great to just sit and chat with too. Not an Easy A, lots of reading and so be prepared for that but thoroughly enjoyed her class.

She is a very sweet lady. She genuinely cares about her students and the material she teaches. She is very interesting and applies the course material to real life. Some may argue she digresses a lot but it is all with a purpose and is tied into the overall understanding of the material. I would defiantly take her again! GREAT TEACHER!

Dr. Gardner is the sweetest, most accepting lady I've ever met. She is VERY unique but that makes her interesting. She went out of her way to help me on numerous different problems both inside and outside of the classroom. The novels aren't the best in the world, but the class is definitely not hard. I made an A without doing much studying :)

I had her for Native American literature and learned a lot I didn't know. She's eccentric, no argument there. But the class was fairly easy and interesting. If you're not interested in Native Americans then don't take this class with her. I'm taking a different class with her in the Fall

Comment:
She is boring, confusing, and unorganized. Her assignments are often tedious busy work, and she likes showing boring, slightly **** videos. However, she is lenient. I skipped class often, didn't read a single assigned book, only turned in maybe 70% of the assignments and still made a B. Pointless class.

Sometimes a bit confusing, but over all a really nice person. I think I've pushed her buttons as far as attendance which only affects you at her descresion?!? Some of her lectures are interesting although not sure the relevance sometimes, and you better like American Indian things.

Always got my class confused with that of another class she was teaching. She doesn't give clear notes and the textbook is just as hard to follow and understand. Stay away if possible--try another teacher. If you're taking the class about native americans then this is the teacher for you she know her stuff, but not for a mandatory engl 3100.

I had Dr. Gardner for two classes one semester and found her to be very engaging. Younger students who might not have learned the level of respect for Professors should be higher than that of their recent high school teachers were very annoying to me yet, she was incredibly patient. Her passion for Native Americans is contagious!

Dr. Gardner is very intellegent and is always willing to listen to you. I have taken several classes with her because she brings a totally different style to the classroom and the lit. is multicultural. It is true that she goes on tangents but they are usually interesting, and I have never seen her treat any student unfairly. She is so nice!

She was a bit confusing in class, but if you ever have questions she is more than happy to help you out. She makes time for you if you need her, and goes out of her way to help you understand. If you dont get something - just ask her.

Very scatterbrained and disorganized, still, she was nice to me. If you can ignore her tendancy to go off on tangents (and have never met an English class you couldn't get an A in) this is the professor for you. Otherwise, you are gonna have to work.

Eccentric to say the least, but so are most English profs. Decide for yourself if that's good or bad. Very helpful. Has the tendency to wander off topic and focuses on small issues. Don't take if you can't handle feminists. Could be boring to some.

Is not open to other people's opinions. Not a very good teacher in my opinion. Doesnt like questions, and REALLY likes to go on and on about something. Was pretty unfair to everyone in my class, if you didnt agree with her, you were wrong.

Everyone I've spoken to agrees that Dr. Gardner is super nice. She cares about her students and will work with you. However, the class was unfocused and I don't really feel like I have learned anything. She's great but the class isn't.

What I learned in this class about approaches to lit. was limited and disappointing. We did needless exercises- we spent 4 class days defining "Literature." There is only one research paper, however. Work with her one on one: she will help you

She gets on your nerves after it's too late to drop. I didn't like her, and she didn't like me.You won't like her either unless you are one of the department pets.Sad, huh?
