Comment:
Do not take her! She is not accessible outside of class, makes you talk to the TAs instead of her. She is condescending and just tells you that you are incorrect. She does not tell you what is wrong about your answers and expects everything to be in extreme detail.

I took Health and the Environment and this was NOT a psychology class. Instead of it being the culmination of the major that a capstone should be, the class is just a metric ton of reading every week and summary papers where you parrot the environmental views she wants you to. Unless youre REALLY passionate about the environment, look elsewhere.

She says things and then forgets, and then is confused when people don't have what she wanted. She forgets a lot. She does NOTHING on canvas. Does not upload grades, makes you print all your papers. She seems to have very little compassion for students and likes to talk about her own opinion. This class was not worth it.

She assigns SO MUCH homework. I don't think she understands everyone in the class takes at least four other courses. The quizzes are hard and seriously the amount of homework we get each week is absurd. It takes me hours and hours to do it all. I would avoid if you can

i heard gibson is better than the other professor. a couple papers which she is really just looking for your opinion, 4 exams which arent as bad if you ATTEND THE REVIEW SESSIONS!!!! They will tell you a lot of the material on it. The hardest part for me were the quizzes, you wanna take a couple days to really read and highlight the book.

This class was so great and Prof Gibson was amazing. Lots of reading and a quiz at the start of each class but with class only once a week, it is not anything you won't be able to handle. Plus all of the information was very interesting. Would definitely take this class again I loved it.

Had to retake Abnormal and glad I did with her. Her personal stories and experience prepares you for a career in psychology. She makes sure to bring up issues and makes students reflect on their attitudes about them. Frequent reading quizzes but it's not hard to get a good grade in her class if you do the work and reading.

Women and mental health really opened my eyes to a lot of stuff. A discussion based class where everyone can speak. Based around reading assignments which are discussed. Gibson is a great professor with lots of interesting stories and is willing to work with you if you need help. Lots of reading and 3 1/2 papers but worth taking. Great class

I would not take her for another class. The only way I made it through was because of the people in my class... shoutout to my transfer peeps in diversity issues. We all suffered together. This lady was so opinionated, nothing was about psychology, quizzes every class on long and pointless readings. If you want to learn about psych, good luck!

People may say she's very opinionated, but she's so sweet! She is very understanding and always willing to help. Few short papers but they're so easy and all she's looking for is your opinion. A lot of material on the test but if you really sit down the day before and study, you'll be absolutely fine. I got an A and she gives a lot of extra credit

Very sweet woman, but you are highly mistaken if you take any senior seminar with her and assume it will be about psychology. Her classes are discussion based, but all you can really discuss is how she feels about either the liberal agenda, feminism, or the environment. There are no assignments other than 4 10+ page papers, and a TON of reading.

Very Very opinionated. Does not teach in detail, reads off her slides, says her opinion and moves on. It gets confusing with what is actual facts and her opinion. I have emailed her several times asking questions, its been two months and I haven't gotten one response yet. She puts in no effort to help students.

While overall easier than other abnormal options, you won't actually be taking abnormal psychology. Pointless outside papers that don't teach you anything. Her quizzes and tests are extremely specific, and she reads every word from her slides. She talks more about health psychology and gender than abnormal. The WORST professor I have ever had.

Even though the tests were tough, this was an amazing class. There's a lot of information, almost too much to cover in one semester but that is unavoidable with this subject. Her lectures include a lot of her experiences in the field and she tells some of the funniest stories! I would definitely take this class again.

Ok so I took Gibson's Psyc 497 health and environment behavior thinking it would be about psychology. It wasn't! At all! It was just her on her soapbox for two and a half hours about why the environments bad. We had to read like 75 pages a week and write 10 page papers on stuff we don't care about. Arguably the worst class I've ever taken.

Okay, everyone needs to give Pam a break. Her tests are moderately challenging, but if you read the book and pay attention you will be fine. This is a 300 level class after all. She is a unique and interesting person who is very passionate about what she does, and she is allowed to share her opinion. Also, papers are SUPER EASY!

really short (like, 1 page each) papers, some reading quizzes, participation points, and tests make up the final grade. If you study the reading guide from class and do some reading from the textbook, you should do alright. Also, speak up in class, because participation points depend on it.

Pam is the best. She's so nice, so caring, and such an interesting person. Really makes the class fun and it's pretty much just a general discussion about the reading with several long papers (make sure you do a really good job or she'll ask you re-do it). A very reasonable and fair teacher. Definitely recommend taking her class!

Pam is... interesting. I respect her for what she is trying to do, which is spread diversity awareness, but she focuses on her own personal agenda WAY to much (chemical sensitivities). Her quizzes are too hard and too subjective, and the grading is inconsistent. You also can't miss any classes, and nothing is put on blackboard. Goodluck.

Comment:
Exams are a little difficult, homework assignments are easy. Class drags on...She is a bit neurotic and has an obsession with sustainability (which is ok, nothing wrong with that) and chemical sensitivities (because that's a issue she deals with personally). Both of which overflow class discussion.
