This is an amazing class to take! We read a wide variety of children's books and dove into the history and development of children's literature. Dr. West gave the most entertaining and informative lectures. I took this for my minor and I'm so glad I was able to have this professor!

Dr. West is an awesome professor! He's so passionate about Children's Literature, and it honestly made me more passionate about the topic. His lectures are interesting and he tells a bunch of funny/interesting stories. I always looked forward to watching his lectures. Obviously, a lot of reading is involved in this class, but you would expect that.

This class was easy because all you have to do is read books and take quizzes. However, finding the time to read multiple books on top of other classes/work can be difficult. It is imperative to set aside a certain time of day to read!! Also, he goes over quiz material in class so attendance is important as well.

Very interesting lectures, sometimes too off topic. Lecture heavy, attendance is not mandatory but you need to show up in order to pass the tests. Quizlets can be your best friend in there, read the books or at least very well written summaries. Study your authors. Short answer quizzes (6), the final is multiple choice.

Grades solely off quiz grades and final exam. Final exam is worth half your grade. Lectures are long boring and off topic for a good portion of the class.

very knowledgeable and passionate professor. makes every class interesting and is extremely entertaining/hilarious. if you read the books and go to class, it's an easy A! quizzes are short answer and sometimes very specific; making flashcards will become your BFF. one of my favorite classes/professors EVER at UNCC.

Amazing professor. Lots of reading but it is an English class. As long as you read the required books and study the lecture notes you should do great. you take six tests and one final. He drops your lowest test grade.

Dr. West always kept my attention through the lecture, mostly because of his demeanor and humor. He really loves his subject and it shows. If you show up, take notes, and read the children's books, you'll get an A. Doesn't take attendance, but its still crucial. Love him!

Professor West is by far one of the best teachers I've had. All of his lectures are easy to follow along with and they are really funny. He talks like he's telling a story which makes his lectures even more fun. Participation isn't a huge part of the class and really the grades only come from the quizzes and final. Read all the books and youll pass

Excellent class, Very interesting and inquizitive instructor! West is insanely clever. YOU HAVE TO READ, but he normally teaches a children's literature course so that is to be expected. You have to plan your reading and take notes in order to pass the quizzies, I have yet to make below a 90 and I am taking two literature classes.

I personally loved this class. I read all of the assigned readings and went to every lecture but one. If you pay attention and take notes, you will get an A. This is college, so you do actually have to do the work. If you fail, it's because you didn't read or go to class. He is a fair grader and really interesting to listen to. Very knowledgeable.

He assigns a bunch of books that you have to read and then asks questions about the books. I never had enough time to finish reading the books before the next quiz came along. The final is all of the quizzes in a bunch but it's multiple choice unlike the quizzes that you have to fill in the blank.. sadly I did not pass this class.

Dr. West is very entertaining! His lectures are great, but can get really boring which causes you to stop paying attention. It is crucial to read the books he assigns. 6 quizzes, drops one and are all fill in the blank. There is also a final and it is multiple choice. The final is pretty much all the quizzes combined! Really funny!
