Prof Sabol is easily the worst professor Ive had at my time at UNCC! He is chronologically behind on grading, has no rubric or guidelines for bigger assignments (yet still grades harshly and doesnt even provide feedback on these!). Lectures are horribly boring with unedited slides. and during the pandemic, all of our assignments were due at 5pm

This is my favorite professor I've ever had. I declared my history minor because of him. There are 3 papers in the class, which are extensive. A few extra assignments here and there but the papers are really the grade. His lectures really help with writing the papers and understanding the material. I would 100% take him again and always recommend.

I would 100% take another course with Dr. Sabol. His tests are take-home essay, which you get more than a month to prepare for each. He is extremely knowledgeable and makes class interesting. His lectures are full of information that really explain what the reading is about. There are abstracts that are also graded. Best professor.

He does not give exams/papers, but gave papers. He does not really have clear expectations for these papers though. He gives a better understanding of the paper like a week before they are due, but by that time you already have a lot written. His lectures are also very scattered. He does go on conferences every so often, so free breaks sometimes.

If you like learning a lot in your gened courses, this is the right guy for you. His lectures and teaching are very interesting. This is the hardest class I have ever taken and if you do not want that, then do not take this course. I have done every assignment and have a D in the class.

I overall thought Dr. Sabol was a good professor, nice lectures. Plus, a lot of Soviet humor thrown in. Only graded by few assignments, and tests are essay which make up 25% of your grade each, so make sure you start early and read the textbook. Abstract articles were interesting. I would take another class with him in the future.

Took his HIST2600: Origins of WWI. Tough grader, expects a lot for this course. Would not take him again. He knows the subject well and is willing to help. Am a history major and needed this class. This is the hardest history class I've taken by far.

Sabol was the hardest professor I have ever had. I worked my ass off and only got a B. I did learn a lot about work ethic and World War I from Sabol though. He is a very intelligent and interesting man though. Students in the class could not keep up with his thought process at times and thought of it as frustrating but I loved his lessons.

Sabol is a fantastic professor and an all around great guy, however if lectures aren't your thing this class won't be too great. 3 major papers are the brunt of the work of the class along with short quizzes and analyses of articles and readings from the books. If you're not a history major I would not recommend this class.

Worst professor I have had thus far. For a 2000 level course he expects way too much. I am certainly not a history major and his course load was ridiculous for a liberal studies course. Sabol does not give a length for the papers you are required to write but if it is anything less than eight pages you will receive a not so delightful grade.

Professor Sabol is a great teacher who knows what he is talking about. He assigns three papers throughout the course that he expects to be approximately 10 pages long, if not longer. In this course you will definitely have to earn your grade, it will not be handed to you.

Sabol is an amazing teacher and obviously knows what he is talking about, but expect quizzes after a reading assignment. He usually picks the most unusual and weird things to question you on, so if you actually read the content then you should be okay. He only has three major exams where you have to write a take home paper, a lot of work!!

If you just need this for general education DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. His test are research papers that he expects to be extremely long. You have to read 25 page articles and summarize them and read the text book because he will give quizzes. Attendance is taken everyday and he doesn't uses powerpoints just talks really fast.

Dr. Sabol is awesome. He started this game called diplomacy as part of our grades, it counted as 25%, reducing the 2 essays to 25% each. We didn't use the book at all. Your grade depends on how much you participate in the game and your essays. I didn't read any of the articles or book, just used books from the library and got an A.

Professor Sabolis really nice and funny. He took a seemingly boring subject and made it interesting. So interesting that I actually want to travel to the places we discussed. He is a relaxed guy. He wants you to simply attend class and turn in your work, he asks nothing more.

Class is pretty easy, best way to take notes is with your laptop cause he talks fast. 3 written take home exams: expects 10-15 pages and in class portion with 8 definitions of people or events. Go to class, take notes, write long papers and you'll make A/B (it helps to be into history) oh you can sleep in class so just attend
