Comment:
This class is really easy because all we have done is watch movies from 1910-1950 about newspapers. There are three reporting assignments with soft deadlines and very little writing is done in class. He emails assignments only to the students who attended class that day. Get the textbook and do the homework. Take it with a different professor.

Ron teaches like the class is when he was a child. He can be kind at times, but his instructions are unclear sometimes and he doesn't explain them. Takes forever to grade stuff and has many small assignments that are sometimes pointless.

Comment:
This class so far has been an absolute waste of my tuition dollars. I have never been one to complain about watching movies, but that is all you will do in this class. I would be okay with it if I were at least learning something, but it has been ridiculous. I have learned nothing from this class that I couldn't have learned independently.

Comment:
The most boring professor I have ever had. He just rambles the entire time and doesn't teach anything useful. It's mostly on AP Style writing and he expects us all to memorize the AP Style book. He also expects respect from his students, but it's so easy for him to disrespect others in the classroom- especially with phone usage.

The class was easy, made some friends but learnt nothing. feel that I could have gained more from the calss but this teacher did not teach the material. At all. Just spoke on random tangents and did not teach. Do not take JRN 202 with this teacher.

The class was easy in terms of a grade. I ended with an A, but every day I basically wanted to fall asleep. He means well but just goes on and on about nothing relative to the subject at hand. Didn't teach, just spoke about his opinions.

Deep down, I think Marmarelli means well, but his JRN205 class was so boring. He loves to lecture and go on tangents for hours on end. The class was easy, and I ended with an A but I almost fell asleep everyday.

Best prof I've had so far in the Journalism department. Knowledgeable and as long as you pay attention you will do fine. Funny guy, love Bob Dylan.

Ron is a good teacher and while he tries to be serious for most of the class, he often can make good jokes and make the class fun. The outside stories can be a pain, but just do your best and even completing them can help your grade a lot. He can ramble about anything for sometime, but he is great at giving you feedback on what you should do.

I'm an A student and currently have a C in this class. I've never had a one-on-one conversation with him because he is so unapproachable and rude to students. He lectures on for an entire hour and 15 minute class just to hear himself talk, however I learn nothing. We have at least one quiz and assignment every class. Avoid taking him.

Oh my god, he is horrible. I have never had a worse teacher in my life. He is rude to students so you can't ask him anything without feeling like an idiot and his lectures are so boring. The only thing he is ever interested in is baseball. I would not recommend this class to anybody!

He has a clear passion for journalism, but not for his students. He was not approachable. I didn't feel comfortable asking him questions, and his answers were very ambiguous. After every assignment we turned in, he would tell us that we didn't do what he was asking for. We never knew exactly what he wanted.

Most JRN professors are super nice and want their students to succeed. NOT THIS GUY. Extremely rude, doesn't care about his students. Boring, just rambles on about things you should already know at this level. Waste of time and money.

Marms is a really nice guy. I know it's hard to appreciate him now, but he's not there to entertain (although he does do that too!)-- he's there to teach.

I took this course this summer and it was a lot of work! As long as deadlines are met, you attend class, and respect the professor it shouldn't be too difficult. Slacking will get you nowhere in any course, especially this one!

This was a summer Reporting course. Because it was a summer course many students acted as if it is a free pass to show up whenever convenient for them. Which in turn is why I believe that many of them were lost during lectures and not satisfied with their grades. Marmarelli will show you respect as long as you put the time and effort in.

Yes, he is very boring! However, a lot of the work you do in class can be used for your portfolio and (if he ever returns anything to you) he is brilliant at editing and revising! I didn't do so hot on the quizzes, but I still got an A in the class. Stick it out.

Class is pretty easy, if you show up and do the homework. He takes attendance at random and if your not there you lose 10 points each time you miss. Marm's lecture is boring, but he is really passionate about this subject.

He's boring, but he knows what he's talking about and his class is easy. Two exams in JRN 102, both are easy if you review his study guide and read.
