Probably the worst professor I've ever had. I was a few minutes late to start my final exam and as a result I received an automatic F. He doesn't accept any late assignmentsno matter the circumstances. He most definitely does not care about his students. Don't take my word for it, just look at the other reviews.

Comment:
Tough grader and rarely gives any feedback. He does not communicate well or respond to emails quickly. It is very hard to understand what it is that he is talking about in lectures, so read over the book. Exams either had less questions with long open-responses required or multiple choice with more questions.

all online with a old class on Blackboard that is had a confusing layout. No instructor present. grade is based on 4 exams and discussions posts. Requires 6 replies and initial post response. Class is extremely boring and reading and responding to 6 posts that all say the same thing is mind numbing. Would not recommend. Would not repeat.

Comment:
Took Media Law online. Zero interaction with the professor all semester. Your entire grade consists of 4 tests. However, if you do the reading it's extremely easy. The only thing I studied was what each legal case was about and the lowest grade I received was a 94. Though there was no interaction, I really don't know how else to teach this class.

Comment:
This class is graded with discussion boards, 3 assignments, a midterm, and a final. The class is fairly easy but he is the problem. He is hard to get in contact with, he isn't specific about what he wants, he can be rude through emails, and is unorganized. The midterm was 4 written questions but he was a tough grader on them. He's worst in person.

One of the worst teachers at this school. Does not help at all and has no empathy. Doesn't really teach the class either. He is very rude on email. You ask for help and he doesn't know how to. Waste of time and money

The actual worst professor I've ever had. A waste of the school's money and mine. Reach out for help and there is either no reply or a vague condescending answer. Thinks he is the most important person in the universe. Would have learned more if I sat home and stared at a wall for 16 weeks. Never take his class.

Exams start at a certain time. Ten minutes after the exam start time if you have not already signed into the exam, you will be automatically locked out of the exam. Exams are 60 minutes long, if you exceed 60 minutes the professor deducts 5 points for each additional minute over 60 minutes. Very tough grader. I would not recommend this class.

The test was given online, but rather than opening it up for whenever you had to be online at the specific hour. I have never had that happen for an online course. Super rude when I emailed him.

The only things Alali gives out in class are quizzes and exams. He lectures every class and it gets boring throughout the semester. It's always slides with pure notes and talking, nothing else. On his quizzes, he tells us the right answer but won't let us take it home to study. So when those questions are on the exam, we don't know what's right.

Alali expects everyone to attend every class and to give their full undivided attention for every class. His tests are mostly based off of his lectures. He also gives pop quizzes without the chance to make them up if you miss that class he decides to do a surprise quiz. Just go to class and study, and you should be fine.

Dr. Alali is a very understanding professor. I went through a rough patch in the beginning of the course when I was unable to take an exam due to a funeral and he helped me through it . I was in his Health Communications course online and it was fairly easy and he focused on his syllabus and never goes off course. Hands down a good professor !

Worst online professor at CSUB!! Wont respond to emails or return your phone calls, only when he wants to. He makes you feel inferior as if your problems or circumstances are beneath him. Therefore, he does not give any help on retakes or hw assignments. Very unorganized and vague grader and person. Do NOT TAKE THIS GUY for an online class!

He is one of the worst professors at CSUB. He has no pity for anyone & he is not helpful at all. He does not respond to e-mails, only if he wants to and when he wants to. Do not take classes with this man.

Hope you like waiting hours on end for a reply back via email or message. Also, this is the only online instructor who I have taken that has exams open at a certain time and terminate 10 min after. Missed the 10 min window? Too bad, no make-ups!

Dr. Alali is a great professor. He makes sure that everyone is able to understand his lectures, and with the help of his PowerPoint slides for notes it was hard to fail. There are a couple of papers, and just a couple of tests. Attend class, take notes, and you will be fine.

HE'S A PRETTY DECENT TEACHER! THE NOTES ARE A LIFE SAVER & A MUST TO PASS THE CLASS! THE TEXTBOOK IS REQUIRED, BUT YOU DON'T HAVE TO LIVE BY IT BECAUSE THE NOTES WILL GET YOU THROUGH THE CLASS. ATTENDANCE IS IMPORTANT. ONE MISSED CLASS WITHOUT THE NOTES AND YOU MAY GET A COUPLE QUESTIONS WRONG ON THE QUIZ.

If you read the syllabus, did your work, all should be fine. Stop complaining about the most challenging, helpful, resourceful, and structured instructor in the department. Need I say he is well published? Get a life slackers!!!
