Does not input grades so you wont ever know your grade. Changes grades constantly. Rants in class. Least specific professor I have ever had. Kind of rude. Fun to listen to in class though.

He was okay. He didn't use Canvas, so we had to email him all our assignments, which left me feeling uneasy that he wouldn't notice them with the tons of other emails he was surely receiving. We had to write discussion questions for each chapter worth 10% of our grade, but he never gave feedback on them so I wasn't sure if mine were good enough.

Cool guy but would not recommend as a professor just because he goes off topic for 60% of his lectures about his own life and his family and it's very boring and annoying. Extremely nice and caring guy though.

He tries to relate the content to real life examples, which is why a lot of other past students refer to him having plenty of anecdotes. He gives you the final at the beginning of the quarter (so you have all quarter to prepare the essay questions). You have to prepare discussion questions and write quite a few papers, but the class is very doable.

John Tarjan gave very interesting and important lectures. As opposed to other teachers who typically have only one of these elements incorporated into class, Tarjan always managed to have both. He is very interested in the well-being of his students, and will go the extra mile for them. I would definitely recommend taking a course with him.

Talks a lot about his family. Not sure how his examples relate to book. Pay attention to PowerPoint for tests. Does let you use a "cheat sheet" for tests. Pay attention to clicker questions. Written papers might want to go through MWL before turning in.

Professor Tarjan makes you work harder than usual, and he helps you think out of the box. His grading policy is fair. He takes attendance regularly. Carefully select your team members for projects, that will have a huge impact in your assignments. He is supportive during his office hours. He is bias sometimes, but he tries his best.

There are 3 papers, 3 tests, and weekly assignments. It's a lot of work, but not really hard work. Attendance is a must if you want to be eligible for the curve. He does talk about himself a lot, but I think it is relevant to the material he is teaching.

Super easy class. He sometimes goes off on a tangent, but he's really nice and energetic. You just need to turn in all your assignments at the end of the quarter, but I suggest turning them in weekly to get them over with. Just busy work. Not hard at all.

He has been the worse professor by far at CSUB. I would not recommend him to anyone. I please advise you stay far away from him as possible. He talks a lot about himself and does not care about students.

Took a business class for a general theme...Tarjan made it seem as if his class was the only one on campus. Unclear with directions for his assignments and makes class more difficult then it should be. I don't recommend this professor.

Great Professor. The class is writing intensive. If you actually put effort into your writing you will do fine in the class. I will second the comment that he does give great real world application for the concepts he teaches.

Print out power point notes & add additional notes during lecture. Try to view your notes a little a day. There were 2 exams & a Final. His exams are multiple choice & his Final is written. Just pay attention in class & participate if you can with the conversations. Make sure you do the writing assignments ahead of time & do the reading. Got a C!

One of the best professors I have ever had! Has high expectations, so if you are a slacker, then you will not do well. Show up, sit in front, take notes, participate, and you will do well. I have "real world" business experience, and can say that his teachings are very applicable to "real life," contrary to a few other opinions on this post.

Hardly ever lectured on anything pertaining to the tests. Somehow I did well on them. The constant 3rd person referrals amused me initially-until they didn't. I'm a straight A student. He gave me a C. I say "he gave" because I definitely did not earn that low of a grade. No clue what he bases grades on. My opinion is if he likes you, you get an A.

It's strange to hear him refer to himself as the third person. His lectures aren't the most entertaining, but they do reflect what will be on the exam. His expectations are high for the writing assignments. I can say, personally, my writing improved by the end of the term. Unlike most professors at CSUB, he does expect a lot from students.

I do not recommend him. His lectures do not reflect the test questions, and he is not clear on assignments. He uses the iclicker technology so he can get input without having to hear his students speak. He's the kind of professor who knows he should care about students, but he doesn't. He should work in the private sector instead of teaching.

He's the worst teacher I have ever taken - unclear, full of himself, opinionated, and were subjective in grading. It's Tarjan's way or the highway. Do NOT under any circumstances take his class - you will regret it! For the midterm you will have to know 6 chapters by heart - statistics, case studies, everything... do not take him!

Comment:
I do not reccommend Mgmt 309 w/ Tarjan. It seems as if you don't agree w/ what he says, your wrong. You can follow guidelines when writing a paper, but again, if he doesn't agree, you are incorrect. Its frustrating. He attempts to cram way to much info in each class session. I won't talk about his personality, this is a review on him as a teacher.
