Professor Stapp is really into economics and even though this semester and his class really challenged me I decided to take my second Econ class with him as well next semester. He calls on random people during class to answer questions and make sure you are paying attention (both zoom class and in person class). Make sure to do bonus opportunities

Great guy; either love or hate him. You will learn a lot and quick. Tests are not easy- study hard. Anything he says in lecture is fair game. You will not be carried. I really feel that I learned more in this class than in any other- not just definitions on a PowerPoint slide. Take advantage of every extra credit- you will regret it if you don't.

LEGIT TERRIBLE!! Had him for an online course and he only lectured. No powerpoints. No study guides. Absolutely nothing to help. On top of that he never once responded to an email all semester even when I was asking for help or clarification. His tests have an insane amount of questions and they are INSANELY specific. avoid at all costs if you can

In love with the sound of his own voice. Teaches in such a condescending way as if establishing intellectual superiority over teenagers is why he gets up everyday. Got his degree from Reaganomics and hasn't stopped preaching the gospel since. Be glad online is ending, he used it as an excuse to ignore students' needs. One word, egocentric.

A straightforward professor, the only thing is that he consistently showed up late to class and held the class late by 5-15 minutes everyday. So if you're taking him, (especially in his last class of the day around 3pm) do not schedule a class after his. It either made me miss important material in his class or miss part of my next class.

My peer mentor told me to take this class with him, and I don't know why I listened. His tests are rigged with questions that are meant to make his students slip up- his own words to another professor. Just take this with Burke and save yourself a lot of misery and disappointment. Why was the valentines day ritual in Japan an actual test question?

Stapp makes what could be a really easy class incredibly complicated. Not good for the remote environment, does not answer emails, does not know how to use technology including posting lecture recordings. Unless you're a major over-achiever, I would try and get your honors credits somewhere else.

Dr. Stapp is an amazing professor. Such a smart person, he knows the material through and through. His tests are stressful (100 questions, a little over an hour to complete it). In order to pass this class, you must go to every lecture. He includes material from every single lecture on his tests. The class is hard, but I would definitely recommend!

Stapp is such an outstanding professor. Despite being an engineering major, I ended up loving econ. I learned a lot over the course of the semester. On the top of learning the content for the class, I watched several additional videos of awesome opportunities that the Walton college has to offer. It wasn't an easy ride, but I enjoyed it so much.

Dr. Stapp's tests are extremely hard, and make up most of your grade. However, if you pay attention and study you can easily make an A. He is incredibly intelligent and you will learn so much more than just econ. Don't take Stapp if you have test anxiety or are a really slow test take cause 100 MC questions + short answer in about an hour.

This class was the hardest I've taken in college so far and I'm a 4.0 Honors student. In our case, he did a great job teaching the first two months. You have to be able to rewrite the graphs at lightning speed. After it shifted online, Stapp was not accessible . I recommend going to office hours

Be prepared to not do well in this class. Dr. Stapp is a very intelligent man, but the way his class is structured makes it nearly impossible to do well. The exams are insanely long and impossible to pass and he makes you memorize random facts he casually says in lectures. Even the best students struggle.

Stapp is something else. While I respect his passion for economics, this class has guaranteed the fact that I will not be majoring in econ. The first test will destroy your grade and you'll dig out of it for months. Smart guy but also arrogant and condescending at times. Rewrite your notes and memorize every single graph.

Stapp has a very difficult class. He does teach well. You will learn. You will feel like you're learning. Yet, you will still fail his tests. They are extremely long. 100 multiple choice at a MINIMUM and dozens of free responses with detailed graphs and equations. Even 4.0 Honors students struggle in this class. Good luck.

Stapp has an overwhelming god complex. Tests over random facts as attendance credit (why I know where Mick Jagger went to college) and gives 100 MC questions and several free-response in 1.25 hrs. He recently went from 3 to 2 tests so he doesnt have to put in the work. Doesn't care about his students, doesnt think youll get anywhere without him.

I suggest taking this class if you're one of those people that does better when challenged. I have inattentive adhd and I thought I would struggle in a seemingly boring econ class, but Stapp is really engaging during lectures and made it easy for me to pay attention. Exams are hard and the random attendance questions are a little unfair sometimes.

Well hes a good teacher, and keeps things interesting. The reason Im giving this review is because I showed up to class everyday, did every homework assignment, studied hard for every exam, and I got an 89.5. This is the first B I received in college and I find it quite harsh that he could not improvise on an 89.5. Dont take honors economics.

He knows a lot about economics and I learned a lot, but his tests are so hard. There is never enough time to finish and he is an incredibly hard grader. He also does not use PowerPoint or any technology. I enjoyed his lectures but I would recommend taking a different teacher for ECON2013 if you want a higher grade.

You will hear good things about professor Stapp, but these things should be taken with a grain of salt. Stapp does not take attendance, but instead scatters random facts throughout his lectures that he will later include on the exams to make sure you attended. The exams are exceedingly long and difficult and make up pretty much all of your grade.
