The readings aren't interesting, and he grades extremely harshly, especially for a 1000 level course. He doesn't give good instruction on what he wants from our essays, and mostly grades on grammer and punctuation rather than the paper itself.

ABSOLUTELY WORST PROFESSOR IVE EVER HAD!!! Do not take his class, he is an extremely tough grader. He takes forever to respond to emails and gives little to no feedback. He is condescending and rude as well. I am warning you, do not take his class

He is one of the worst professors Ive ever had. His grading makes absolutely no sense. Your overall grade consists of 4 short responses and a term paper. He grades so hard, it almost impossible for you to get an A in the into level course. Do not take this class if youre looking for an A, best youll get is a B

Professor Cochran lays out all the due dates and assignments from the start of the semester so you always know what you need to have done when. He delivers great lectures with interesting tidbits pulled from decades of study and experience. The readings selected for this Drama literature class complemented one another and provided a good foundation

I really did love Cochran, however this class was hard. He really does "make you work for it." The readings and lectures are enjoyable, but the quizzes are over nit-picky details that don't matter and those were very hard for me. The mid term essay and final essay help balance it out though. I would recommend him, get ready to work though!

Although the weekly readings and quizzes are sometimes difficult, it is all very interesting and the grades are curved. I scored as low as 50% on some of the quizzes, but still made an A in the course. Mr. Cochran is very understanding about making up quizzes and likes to have discussions during his lectures.

He usually ends class early. He is kinda boring and goes off topic, but he knows what he is talking about and can get the point across. I didn't buy the books in time and had a hard time keeping up, but most of his stuff is on blackboard. Only assigns one essay and the final rest of the points come from quizzes over the readings.

Professor Cochran is great. He likes to tell interesting stories that may sometimes be off-topic, but makes all of his lectures interesting nonetheless. Would take this class again!

Dr. Cochran is great! He makes class interesting and always let us out early. The reading assignments weren't a crazy amount. Most of the time they only took about 30 mins to complete. Take his class!

Class weighted heavily towards weekly quizzes (50%). Must attend to pass. Is eclectic and uses variety of mediums (text, music, film) to teach. I found him to be quite funny and as it was a 3 hour class, that helped tremendously. Would take again if possible, as he challenged me to look beyond the surface and find deeper connections.

He teaches the class through the lens of Fugitive Communities. The readings are disconnected, and mostly abhorrently boring. He takes too long explaining things, often explaining what he is about to explain. I attended class regular, and learned nothing of note. Limited class participation

Dr. Cochran is an interesting professor. He says that if you have a pulse you will pass his class. His quizzes are a little hard but he curves the quizzes. Come to class and you will do fine.

The quizzes were not the easiest but he curved the quiz grades. The class overall was not hard. He said "If you have a pulse, you will pass my class". That was the case. Good guy too.

I really wanted to love this class. Showed up every week, read all te assignments worked hard. I have been a 4.0 student for almost 3 straight semesters. His class I got a B. Honestly felt like he was a nitpicker. He was not interested in students learning concepts, just stupid details. He graded in class essays harshly for grammatical errors. Run

I hated this class. The readings are all dry and his quizzes aren't easy by any means. His readings are all over the place also, so that wasn't good. If you're about to take this class, don't.

American studies, guy was pretty cool. just came into class and watched documentaries. every 4/5 classes we would have quizzes identifying 7-8 out of 10 terms on films. a term paper 3-5p. over doc of our choice. final was 2-4 essay on topic he gives you. pretty cool, lets you out early as long as class doesn't have long discussion on films

Cochran is just straight up awesome; I had him for American folk music. Sometimes his lectures are a little loose, and on quizzes I occasionally had a hard time with obscure names (so GO TO CLASS and take notes). But the material is interesting, esp. if you're into music, and he's a super nice guy and knows his subject. No tests; one big paper.

This instructor has an ego the size of Montana. I feel that he believes students have no other classes and should spend the majority of their time reading ancient and incredibly boring literature. He expects small details to be handpicked out of an incredible amount of works, so hang on for his quizzes.

Cock Rock is not really all that bad, but his lectures tend to be a bit tedious. He's an easy grader who expects you to be able to churn out the arguments covered in class - take that as you will as a positive or a negative. He's not terrible or anything like that, but he's pretty mediocre, all things considered.

His lectures were always interesting but I have no idea where they came from! He would pick some obscure little fact from the reading and base the lecture off of it. One perk is that in his drill sessions there aren't any quizzes because you write 1 page responses, but get Levine if you can!
