Comment:
If you are going to take Mr. Parkerson's class, be ready to teach yourself the material. He doesn't know how to explain the material to the students and thinks we know digital design vocabulary (which makes It hard to understand). Also if you want to take him, be ready to have a weakly meeting because you will need help. don't take his class.

Comment:
Parkerson may be the worst professor I've ever had. He loves talking about the good old days and goes off on tangents that have nothing to do with the course. These sometimes last for the entire class period. He doesn't explain things clearly and often refuses to elaborate. Avoid at all costs - especially if you're a CSCE major!

Comment:
Parkerson is cool, nothing too bad. You're graded on: homework & labs that are twenty percent of your grade each. two tests that are fifteen percent each of your grade. and the final that is thirty percent of your grade. Regardless, knowing how to do the homework is key.

Dr. Parkerson likes to go on tangents and talk about "the good ol' days". I did not learn much in Digital Design, and I am not prepared for Computer Organization. The homework was easy, midterm easy, lectures too complex, and final exam extremely hard. When asked to explain something, he repeats himself or says look in the book. Get help from TA

Presents the material basically directly from the book, but he is very clear about what will be on the homework and tests. Awesome professor, definitely take him if you get the chance!

I'll start by saying, "Oh my god. He is so boring." He speaks in a deep monotone voice and even jokes about it in class occasionally. His lectures cover really deep material, but the homework covers the absolute basics. His tests barely change between years so if you can find a previous year test, you can easily pass using it as a study guide.

Dr. Parkerson is a true asset to the CSCE department. He maintains healthy research activity without cost to ths students; i.e., he still teaches class well and responsibly with plenty of lecture notes. He is always available during office hours and extremely helpful. Good advisor. Classes require the students to learn, but not burn out.

Simply a wonderful teacher. Knows the material and is able to teach it. He worked with me and helped me to understand material that I had problems with. I'm very glad that he is at the UofA. Having him as a teacher makes me understand what it is like to attend a quality university.

Dr. Parkerson is one of the best professors I've ever had. Ask him any question and he will answer it and will make sure you understand. He recognizes hard work and is not out to make his students miserable. What he teaches can be considered a valuable gift and not a hard duty.
