The lectures are extremely boring. Lab and TA office hours are where I learned all of UPI. Dr. Stewart tries to make the lectures interesting, but she's very dry and monotone.

I took the honors class. They say the only difference between honors and regular is one tiny project. WRONG. This tiny project happens to be a 10 page paper. Plus a powerpoint. Also. I went to office hours with the TAs and her. She is bad at explaining. The TAs can explain it better than her. Tests are hard.

I really did not enjoy her teaching, at all. She seems like a sweet person and I understand that it is hard to lecture so many students but lectures are SUPER boring and SO hard to pay attention during. Hmwrks are at times assigned over material we haven't covered, and tests are fairly easy but at times confusing. Not my favorite class or teacher.

I finished the course with >95%. That said, she has no idea what she's doing. Grade policy is convoluted, the book sucks, the syllabus is confusing, she doesn't cover her material in lecture, forces lab TA's to teach you. Monotone, poor explanations, tests are nearly identical to homework, but test questions can be vague or stupid. Not pleasant.

Her tests are hard and her lectures are super boring. But if you pay a little attention and go to labs you will do fine despite the boring lectures.

Dr Stewart does read from the slides but she has points to make besides them. You learn a lot in lab in this class. She isnt a bad teacher; she's really nice and she DOES care about her students. Tests aren't hard if you attempt to understand the material and learn from your mistakes! She allowed us to correct errors on a hard test for half credit.

No. Just no. This class is formatted to take up all of your time. The guidelines are ridiculously strict. She doesn't teach what you need to know to do the homework. She does not curve her overly hard tests. She has no sympathy for the students at all. The class is a lot harder than it should be. Just dont....don't.

Dr. Stewart is one of the worst professors on this campus. She doesn't teach. She just reads straight off of the powerpoints and going to class is useless. She has daily quizzes, though, so you are required to attend. Take physics in the summer if you can!

You have to do the hw and go to class but I loved her. She has a dry sense of humor so you need to pay attention to get her jokes, but overall, she is one of my favorite professors I have evear had. I got a 92% on the final just by studying the review sheets. You just have to put in the work to get a good grade.

Excellent teacher. Physiscs is a difficult subject and requires the student to actually put forth effort. Her class is much the same. She is highly knowledgeable and helpful, but you must invest time in actually learning.

MOST BORING CLASS LECTURES but you have to attend because she has mandatory quizzes as well as weekly long homework assignments. Really is a nice lady and means well but she can be confusing and get off topic easily. CONSTANT studying due to the enormous amount of material you must learn especially if you are new to physics as in my case.

Is very knowledgeable in the field of physics, but is sometimes not effective in explaining things. She talks about major concepts as if you already completely understand them, and skips right to the equations you have to learn.

Her entire research centers around physics education, so you will learn if you choose. Very demanding on your time. You must attend class, do the homeworks, and read the book. Passive study will not do. Know your algebra and trig. The easiest hard class I've ever had. Office hours are available from her and TAs all week. Dry and snarky humor.

The systems she teaches is awful. Long hw is hard. TA and labs are only things you learn from. Lectures are pointless. She mumbles something, shows pp slides and show really examples. Hw are extremely hard and worth nothing, but you have to do it. Tests are problems from hw and some examples from class. Good luck .

Class is twice a week. You dont learn much in class. Labs are time consuming, but help you a lot. Tests are hard, you have to study for them. TAs are very helpful.

Although her lectures are very monotone, she is easy to understand and comprehend. She gives lots of examples and is very open to questions (exact opposite of her husband, John Stewart). I had her in my lab, which helped tremendously. I recommend introducing yourself to her, it will make a big difference!

She has the worst lectures I have had here in Fayetteville. She is completely monotone and you have to stay because there is a quiz everyday. There is also a HW (sometimes 2) due everyday. All of the HW is over material not covered because she wants you to "learn out of the book too". Overall she is horrible.

HER LECTURES ARE ABSOLTUELY TERRIBLE!! There are no other UPI teachers though so you have to take her. Her lectures are monotone the whole time, and very very very uninteresting. Attendance to lecture is mandatory as there are lecture quizzes handed out every day. Do your homework (which isn't hard) and you will make an A.

Talks over your heads, is standoffish to questions just because YOU don't have a PhD, homework is busywork and takes an eternity. You don't do any physics, you do Gay's favorite homework problems asked 1000 times. I had to fight her to get an A. If you don't go to lab, you won't learn the material from your TAs, which is the only way you can.
