A chill prof, the guy knows a lot about history. Just doesn't give too much feedback and he marks a little harder than I thought he would but he's overall a decent prof. If I would retake this course, I probably would.

This was my favourite history course in my degree because Shubert cares about the subject matter and it shows. More than anything he wants his students to have a space to be able to discuss and debate topics. Assignments are practical and he gives good feedback.

Just don't bother. Unclear lecture. Unclear material and the professors never seems to know what he is saying with any certainty. There are much better history courses in York. Save your money.

I come from a science and writing background and get around A's to high B's in my courses. His grading material is unimaginably unclear and you will most likely receive barely passing marks. Avoid at all cost if you want to sustain a high GPA. Also, the class is less interesting than it sounds.

Professor Shubert is very kind and enjoys what he is teaching which in turn makes the students interested as well. His knowledge of Spain is grand. The whole course is made up of 3 short writing assignments and participation. Very easy class, recommend highly if you need a 3 credit course and wanna learn some interesting history on the way to an A.

Very nice prof. Gives lots of feedback but its not always helpful or accurate. He corrects sentences or concepts that are already fairly clear to understand and follow, which resulted in me getting lower marks then I truly felt I deserved. Not bad of a class over all but would not recommend unless youre very interested in this topic.

Once you get past the fact that he's not the best lecturer out there you realize that he is otherwise a fantastic professor. I was very interested in modern European history, and this guy knows his stuff better than anyone and will provide you with thorough understanding european history. Marking was not easy, as i had to earn my A but its worth it

Not a bad prof. Seems slightly uncomfortable in class but knows his stuff. I have no idea how he marks things, but you can go from getting an A on one paper to a D on the next. The class itself is fine, you've got to be interested in Spain to want to listen.

He is very knowledgable on his subject, but his lectures are often dry. Overall he is a very kind man, and very approachable. He is an easyfair marker. There is little reading assigned, most is online. His assignments are fairly simple.

Fantastic Professor! His lectures were very clear and concise. He uses powerpoint slides that are extremely easy to follow, and really beneficial if you can't make lecture on any particular day. The term papers were very unusual though. We had to write vignettes, and although numerous examples were given throughout the year, no one mastered them.

Nice guy, very interesting. Comments not at all helpful and marking strategy does not make sense. Needs to learn how to give useful criticism.

He is one of the best professors I have ever had! He's clear and passionate about his job. He teaches in a way that is interesting and engages the student. It was unfortunate there was low attendance because there was no exam but attending his lectures are nothing less than beneficial. Overall, great prof!

It is clear that he is interested in the course content he teaches and the course did have its moments like when he talked about the E.U and he told us a funny story so he is not THAT boring. however the course did not have a final exam, which brought down class attendance. but i liked the class and prof. overall :)

He's very well-versed in his subject matter and delivers a great quantity of usually relavent info, however, he lacks enthousiasm. Then again, it's not a prof's duty to be a stand-up comedian; ...it would be nice however:)
