Dr. Shulman is a DEDICATED professor. You can tell he really likes his subject and teaching it. He's incredibly understanding and has clear expectations. If you work hard in his class, it will pay off. He has high expectations, but they are never unreasonable. 10/10

He basically hands you all the lectures for the entire semester and leaves you to it. There's practically nothing to balance your grade, only an essay, midterm, and a final. I did 't receive any feedback on my essay, leaving me unsure as to why I received the grade I did. Also, grades were put in VERY late(2months). Same with the midterm and final.

Shulman is clearly an active member of the professional society, but he often rambles about unimportant things and clearly engages in favoritism. Like, blatantly. He can be very accommodating and receptive to complaints about test structure, but I find him mildly condescending. He is a person who wants to be fun, which is nice.

This teacher is great, you learn a lot but you do have to put in the work for a good grade. If your class is willing to work together you can get him to add extra credit to the class. He is very open to talking to students about trouble they are having in the class. If you are a student at SIU take a class with him if you are a poly sci Major.

Dr. Shulman gave the most boring lectures I've ever had to sit through. The class is based entirely off of 3 tests, and those are the only grades you get. 1/3 of the tests are based off of the textbook, which he doesn't cover at all in class. Overall, a difficult class that was really boring and frustrating because he teaches so poorly.

Great lectures & discussions. Really smart - knows his stuff. Mostly very good w/answering questions. Occasionally seemed a bit annoyed or defensive at questions which could be interpreted to challenge him. Overall definitely recommended.

Great professor. Only grades were 3 exams, weighted equally. 35% multiple choice based on textbook. 65% short answer based on lectures. Read, read, read for the exams! Short answer was easy, but the multiple choice was very difficult. Class was mostly entertaining, but occasionally boring. Overall, I learned a lot and I recommend the class.

Dr Shulman's classes are easy, although a lot of reading is required. As long as you come to class, listen, and learn you'll have no troubles. He is more than willing to help students after class.

This guy definately knows what he is talking about when he speaks, but often times he conveys his knowledge in a way that is not so clear and easy to jot down. However, able students shouldn't have a problem as long as they show up to class.

Awesome teacher, one of my favorite ever at siuc. he is absolutely hilarious and incorporates everything to current events. often showed daily show or other videos at the beginning of class and began with a random discussion. tests are really hard but he curves A LOT. i should have gotten a D on two tests and ended up with a B+ both times

Pretty good guy. He usually has an open discion at beging of class about current events which is nice becasue its better than lectruring the whole time. Tests and assigments can be somewhat diffcult, but there is usually a huge curve, which is always good. I Defianlty recomend this class and the teacher, you will defiantly learn alot and have fun
