Deanne was an exceptional prof (one of my favorites, for sure), and it was because of her in-depth knowledge and charisma that sparked a deeper interest in dramatic works. Her passion for theatre definitely shines through her engaging lectures, and she gives critical yet helpful feedback when marking papers. Definitely ensure she's your TA!

I didnt enjoy the course at all, but Deanne was very knowledgeable, professional, respectful and kind. We had this girl in our class who wouldnt raise her hand and would just blurt things out and speak over her and Deanne never once called her out, I believe any other professor would have. Im glad I had the privellage of being her student!

Deanne was by far my favourite professor this year. She is so incredibly kind, helpful, understanding, and knowledgeable, pretty much all that a professor should be. Her lectures were so interesting, I found the two hours flying by and not even seeming like long enough. I can hardly put my admiration for her into words!

The thing with Deanne is that she's very helpful but she makes the exams unnecessarily long and difficult. Her midterm had two parts. S/A-we had to choose FIVE passages from 10: identify author, speaker, play and context along with significance of passage. Second part: essay comparing most texts. INSANE.

Professor Deanne Williams is an amazing, knowledgeable, compassionate, helpful and lovely professor. I just took her Shakespeare class last year and I was in her tutorial. I'm soo grateful that I had her as a prof. She has a good sense of humour, wants her students to succeed, and knows her stuff!! I would take her class again. :) Fun Lectures!!

Deanne is an excellent prof; well-learned, concerned about the success of her students, and a just pleasant person over all. We read one play for 2 weeks so the readings are spaced out: BONUS. Also means that there's more time to catch up if you're behind, engage with each play and really savour them!

took 3 classes with deanne. 2nd,3rd, 4th yr. she was amazing in 2nd and 3rd yr UNTIL i had a tutorial with her in 4th. she has extremely high expectations and favourites. if youre not one of her favourites, its pretty much a struggle to get a B unless you bring shakespeare back from the dead! i suggest her 2nd and 3rd yr courses w/ other TA's!

This is my second time having Prof. Williams. She leads a great seminar and is always open to new ideas and discussions. Her class is a little early, so make friends if you're planning to skip a few. She's very helpful and extremely fair with her grading.

I'm currently taking a graduate seminar with Deanne, and I thought I'd write in order to encourage everyone to take a class with her. She is an incredibly passionate professor who clearly loves what she does. She makes going to class fun and exciting, and always keeps an open mind to new/fresh ideas. Simply the best!

Deanne is amazing. She was extremely considerate of the family issues I was having during the time our final essay was due. My final mark was a mark she felt I deserved rather than what my mark reflected. Extremely intelligent and just an amazing person all around.

Impossible for someone to be a better professor-for Shakespeare. She is very open minded, inspiring and passionate! She is also very helpful and gets excited during discussions about Shakespeare. You might cry when you get your first essay back but she'll help you raise your grades by patching up your writing... and the tests are extremely easy. =)

Deanne is a great professor. It can be intimidating when you talk to her because of her vast knowledge of the time period but that will slowly go away and you'll start to realize that you love Shakespeare just as much as her. The two things I didn't like was that sometimes she spends too much time on some topics and encourages discussion too much.

Very passionate and articulate on the subject of Renaissance. She concentrates a lot on the history aspect the readings are tied to, and they do play a role on the exams! Will look over thesis through email, which is very helpful.

Very enthusiastic, very helpful, very kind, very knowledgeable, and a wonderful professor! Made class fun and Shakespeare more accessible. She encourages discussion a bit too much during lectures, leading off on too many tangents, but that's the only negative thing I can think of. She's also quite attractive, just to top it off.

A fun and enthusiastic prof. However, her lectures tend to encourage discussion when discussion should be during tutorials. We run out of time during lectures because she ends up having convesations with the more eager students in the lecture hall and we never get to cover what she plans. Save your discussion questions during tutorials people!
