I cannot say enough nice things about Prof. Bowles. She is one of my favorite professors I've ever had. I've taken her for three courses so far. If you are a history buff, any of the courses she teaches are for you. She is an American historian and is very passionate about it. She makes the subject interesting and fun.

Dr. Bowles is really passionate about history. Her class requires an index card about something from each textbook chapter, three papers, and a take-home final. She accepts drafts and provides proper feedback in order to do well. Her class is very informative because you learn some things that you never learned before.

Professor Bowles is the best! I honestly recommend her for any non-history majors & history majors. Her lectures can be a bit dry but you can tell she is so passionate about what she teaches. If you take her for a 2+ class she lets you out after 2 hours which is nice. Take her if you can!

Nicest lady in the world. Take any and all of her classes. Class format: Lecture/student discussion. Doesn't drone on, has funny(ish) anecdotes/gets sidetracked easily. Four small papers on readings (2-3 pages each) and one term paper (12-15 pages). All easy. Classes always flew by, she is energetic, and clearly loves what she does. TAKE HER.

Man is this class boring. Nothing against her at all but it's impossible to understand her hand writing and she is just a horrible tough grader. She hands out C's like its her job. Very disappointed that I took this class because it lowered my gpa. I do not recommended her there's definitely better professors than her that you could take.

Curently in her class.. DO NOT TAKE her lectures are dry, and she is a terrible grader. I am an honors student who loves to write and she gave me Cs on all my papers. Wish I never took this class.

I took this class thinking it was going to be a joke and I treated it like a joke. I never got any of the books, used the internet to find all of my essay sources and I got B's across the board. She was nice and understanding and really cares about NJ history. Don't buy the book unless you are really into NJ otherwise you can get away without them

Prof. Bowles is very clear in what she expects and her workload is one of the most reasonable of all the HIST.profs at WPU. 4 books (3 of them are small books). 3 short papers, and a final (the final is a take home consisting of 3 short papers). Prof. Bowles is very knowledgeable. Her style is mainly lecture, with some class discussion.

Dr. Bowles is a magnificent professor. It is absolutely evident she cares, not only about her subject area, but also her students. If you cannot attend class because of illness or another issue, she is understanding. Dr. Bowles is definitely there for her students and will lend a helping hand when needed. She is a great professor, try to take her!

She might be nice, but wow is this lady annoying when she talks. She uses um, ok, uh & alright interchangeably before & after everything she says. She slurps and smacks. She talks loud & laughs for no reason. I honestly am dropping the class, not b/c she is hard, but b/c i CANNOT stand to listen to her talk for 2 hrs. Seriously!

A nice woman she tries to lecture in a story telling way. She lets you out early which is a plus. However, her Taking Sides worksheets are tedious, as well as the Taking Sides papers. Both the midterm and final are take home. As long as you show up to class, hand in your index cards and Taking Sides worksheets and papers, you can get a good grade.

Comment:
Prof Bowles assignments are reasonable, her midterm/finals are take home essays. I would suggest doing the readings as they are assigned- if you keep up you should have no problem with the midterm/final essays. Also, there are short essays (3) due. Again, keep up w/reading and u should be fine. Dr. Bowles taught me a lot about history.
