He was not a good teacher at all. I had to learn it all myself to get my A. Useless lecture cause everything he says is so obvious compared to what we have to do for homework. The first midterm is hard but the second one is easy. He doesnt even give you your score for the final. Beware....erasers are for cheaters.

The best best math professor. Helpful during office hours. He does two easy examples during lecture then a hard one to challenge students. No curve on his midterms since students perform well on the exams. For students with weak math skills, Professor Chrystal is highly recommend.

Trust the ratings in 2012. He is a very good professor. The key is that you have to practice the work and study often. He's a funny guy and a fantastic lecturer. If you're having trouble go to office hours, tutoring center, and/or online videos and you will be in good shape.

Very good Professor. His midterms will prepare you for the final. Perfect English which is a plus. As long as you read the text, do the h.w, and get help when needed, this class is an easy A.

I don't know why people say that Chrystal is a bad professor. He's actually pretty good; if you go to lecture, pre-read, and do the homework it's not too bad. Just make sure you understand everything, and pay really close attention in lecture because he will give really helpful tips here and there.

for those ppl who said his test was hard, they apparently did not attend the lecture. I did not missed a single lecture and one day before the test, I review my notes i almost got 100% on both midterm. so if u actually go to the lecture and listen to what he says, this class is pretty easy! Great professor.

Professor Chrystal is okay. My two main problem with him was that he only went through a few examples. On average, we would do 3-5 problems during class. The second problem was that he makes errors while working out the problems in class (frustrating if you take notes in pen)

Honestly, not that good of a teacher. The midterms were honestly really easy, but the final was hard. If i hadn't learned this material already, I don't think I would have gotten an A in the class. Also you learn more in discussion than in lecture.

I hated this class. Materials in class and in the text were too easy compared to the questions on the midterms. 2 midterms, 1 cumulative final that all 2A classes take. A lot of book work and Webworks HW. His tests were ridiculously difficult and there was always some type of error. I wound not recommend taking this professor.

Midterms are easy, but the final is hard because he doesn't write it (common final for the math 2b students). He is very patient and will answer any question as many times as it is asked. He's a very sweet old man, he reminds me of Santa Claus and likes to tell little stories every Friday that are very endearing. Good class, easy A especially if you took it in high school.

Chrystal's alright as a professor. He goes REALLY REALLY SLOW. If you any prior knowledge (like if you took AP Calc AB) this class will be a breeze. I think I would be completely lost if I didn't have any prior knowledge. You can take him, but know what you're getting into. He's slow, and he's difficult without prior knowledge.

I don't understand why he has such low ratings. His tests are a bit difficult, but his lectures are CHRYSTAL clear and he cracks jokes. Tests are only difficult, though, 'cause people don't study enough. His exams will prepare you for the final, definitely.

My God. PLEASE, PLEASE DON'T TAKE HIM unless you've taken calc in high school or you're a genius in math. I had over a 3.5 GPA and then I got this guy and he ruined it for me. Studying the book doesn't even help for his class because a lot of test questions are hecka random, so studying my butt off was pointless. Don't take him.

He really does expect you to know everything before coming to class. He stays on one example for the longest time and doesn't even explain everything. If you are interested in math and have taken it in highschool, then you should be fine!

If you've taken Calculus AB before in high school, you should be fine but otherwise he's not that great of a teacher. He skips over some steps and assumes you understand. Midterms were kind of challenging depending on which version you get. He looks like Santa Claus and is a very jolly professor though and passionate about teaching math.

This guy is a jolly Santa Claus. I found his lectures to be pretty useless, but at the same time, you should still go to them. He spends the majority of his lecture on 2-3 problems and assumes that you knew some of the things in the book. He does prepare you for the final though. But because of LARC, I think that was the reason I got an A.

Avoid if possible. If I had not taken AP Calc in hs I would've failed. In class he only goes over the basic easy problems and expects you to do the difficult ones in the hw section on your own. He's an old man whos trying to teach well but still I didn't learn much.
