Comment:
Julie Head and the accounting department in general are the worst parts of Kelley. During the course, there were no practice tests to prepare students for exams and we weren't allowed to review our tests to learn from our mistakes. So obviously, students usually did worse as the class progressed. The department really wants you to fail.

Idk why people don't like her so much. She was a solid professor and was able to explain concepts well. It seems like she wants to see her students succeed. Prof. Head can be a bit awkward but as long as she is able to teach that's not a problem to me.

A201 was one of the hardest classes I have ever taken. With classes being online this semester, it definitely made it worse. Prof. Head didn't really teach anything during our one live class a week and the lecture videos were just her reading the notes from the course pack. Take the class with a different professor if possible.

She is not as bad as some people make her out to be. She explains concepts fairly well and puts out a lot of resources to help you succeed. This class is really about how much time you put in. Just be sure to keep up each week and make sure you practice a lot of review problems. Also don't skip discussion as it helps explain concepts in more detail

Teaches ok but exams are very irrelevant to the coursework from Smartbook and Connect. Her brother apparently works at the IMU bookstore in which she will half force you to buy course packets from there. Wondering if there's anything fishy between her brother and her collaboration.

Notes for incoming students: Disregarding bad study habits, most students do poorly in this class because of what happens in the first 3 weeks. The first exam is CRUCIAL to success in this class. If you can put in extra work on the first exam, you will understand most of the concepts for the rest of the semester instead of playing catch-up.

Julie is your only choice for A201. She's a solid teacher. If you want to do well, you will have to read the textbook, it's the only way to actually learn the material. To study for tests, do/redo the packet exercises, they're very similar to the type of problem you'll see on tests. Discussion is where you reinforce what you learn so don't skip.

Professor Julie Head was a pretty solid teacher. Class is pretty exam heavy so you have to really put in the work for each and every exam. For exams, redo all the packet exercises, connect problems, discussion assignments, and the textbook because she will take some odd questions from it. Overall, you will need to put in a lot of work for an A.

Julie is the only prof for A201, so you're stuck with her. A201 is really hard but she tries to help you understand the basic concepts. But her tests are HARD and you really aren't prepared for them even if you do all the work. I did every single assignment that we had and I still got consistent 70's on the tests.

I thought Professor Head ran this class very well. There are so many different resources available for you to practice and understand the content. I am now studying for the final and feel that I don't really need to study too much because you will inevitably retain a lot of knowledge practicing through the units.

If you don't do every homework assignment, I'd say your chances of getting an A are pretty slim. She's a good professor, I think people say she isn't because the class is pretty hard, but nothing wrong with her. She can clarify any question you have and has done a great job adjusting the class with COVID. Would not suggest taking it as a freshman.

A201 isn't that tough if you spend time reading chapters every week and do the practice tests before exams. The course package includes all the slides, which summarizes the textbook. Professor Head gives students tips of preparing for each exam and lists out all the resources and help sessions before exams. Her lecture is heavy but really helpful.

Not bad at all. She did a great job adjusting the course to the COVID-19 situation and curved the last two exams. She also rounded up. Definitely knew what she was talking about in lectures and explained hard concepts pretty well.

Professor Head put a lot of effort into structuring the class carefully for the students to be successful. If you put time into reading the chapter each week, going to lecture, and doing the work she suggests, you will be fine. She is knowledgeable about accounting and is ready to help. She's truly a nice person and can be pretty funny sometimes.

Personally, I was not a fan of Professor Head. When it came time for exams there is literally no way of knowing what will actually be on them. Exam questions are FAR more difficult than what is in the course packet. Going to lecture felt like a waste of time. I admit I could have put in a bit more effort, but I was not a fan of this class/professor
