I can't believe the other comments on here for Dr. Paterson. I've taken two courses with her BIOL3303 and BIOL4109 and both ran smoothly the courses we hard but fair. I learnt more from Dr. Paterson than any other Professor at Carleton.

It seems like sometimes she was confused about what she was talking about. Tests were MC but the questions were very tricky. Very nice person tho.

Lectures can be boring at times unless you are super into biology. Labs are not difficult, there may be a few things that are dificult, but that's what TAs are for. Overall, good class to take if you enjoy biology.

Fairly repetitive lecture style which can get quite dull (no thanks to the dimly lit Theatre A). What she says is interesting but her delivery unfortunately makes concentration difficult.

The midterms and final were very straightforward. Her slides are on WebCT, and they complement the textbook (a must-buy). The lab is trickier, but she probably doesn't have much input. The lectures are boring, but hey, she's a professor, not a clown. Would recommend.

I don't think she was that bad. I've heard some stuff from the others but I've talked to her and she was actually nice. Her labs are killer but any bio lab so far was too so I wouldn't say it was particularly hard. Basically, u get intimidated in the beginning and u master ur skill to write reports.

She is smart and doesn't appear to really like the average student all that much. She is quite pleasant *most* times. Unfortunately you must get ahold of previous years' labs to determine what she *really* wants. She does not teach you the things you need to know or provide you with the resources you need to school yourself for A+ test results.

She must be Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde, she sux. She has a serious attitude problem, and purposely made the labs difficult. I DID go to the library to get the reference material and spent HOURS answering every question, only to find later that she gave marks for stuff not listed in the lab manual. I saw the TA's marking scheme, so I know.I only got an A

Man, you guys don't know what you're talking about... as long as you did the work right and referenced the material put on hold in the library, easy A. She raised my mark every lab I handed in cause the TA's were too dumb to realize the right answer.

Attitude problem, lab coordinator who talks for 15mins, then disappears. Accusations of fraud are rampant, though unjustified. She knows very little about student life. When complaining about TA marking, she finds ways to give you a worse mark than before. Sue if you read this, you're a bad teacher.

She was the best prof ever! Her teaching is incredible! Very clear in lectures, notes are really good (you can download them off her website) uses lots of visuals, explain really well too. May seem kind of rude to students.
