You are basically on your own in this class. Not helpful whatsoever! Nitpicks the smallest details. I would stay away from this professor!!! Graded on a group project, group paper, midterm exam, & final. VERY tough grader!

Run, like actually run. Terribly hard grader, tells you what to say and then fails you for saying it. Get ready to get a bunch of ????? on your projects instead of helpful commentary.

Unapproachable and unfriendly. This professor should not be teaching. It seems that she loves taking points off of papers and assignments. She will admonish you for asking a simple question. Avoid her.

Dont know why this lady is teaching. Grades very harshly. Ruins your grade even when nothing was wrong with your assignments (paper worth a B a D- to her). Nitpicks at tiny tiny things to make you fail. Extra credit only if you buy it on ATI and its only 1 point. Stay away. She is bitter, cold, & entitled. Rude & will not help you at all.

Its like heaven has touch down on Earth! She is a completely different teacher now. I almost cried when I had to retake her again for a new nursing class. Her new teaching style now makes her one of the best. I feel confident that I can write a paper with my eyes closed & trust thats big for me to say. If you plan to go to grad school TAKE HER!

Please do yourself a favor and stay away from her. She will ruin your grade for one research paper even if you had a good grade, she will drop your grade based on how she wants to grade the paper even if you follow her directions "explicitly", she will still mark you down. Do not recommend her to anyone.

Class is 2 exams, 1 assignment, ATI test, a group EBP paper& group presentation. No pop quizzes. First half of class is just lectures and not bad. Group ppt not bad, EBP graded very harshly. Email her often and ask questions+follow sample! Dr. Newton is a great lecturer, however as others have stated, follow directions on exactly what she wants.

First half of the semester was a breeze. The second half was horrible. A midterm 25%, a final 25%, a group presentation 20%, EBP paper 20%, ATI 5% and a homework assignment 5% are what determines your grade. Makes this class way harder than it is. Grades the EBP paper harsh and subjective. Follow her directions. Hope for good grades.

Newton took this class and made it way harder than it needed to be. There were tricky unfair pop quizzes, two exams, an insanely long group paper which she graded unbelievably hard and then a group presentation. At first the class seems easy because there aren't many assignments but second half of the semester was insane.

Don't miss even one day! because you miss one of the pop quizzes and your grades is screwed. Nothing is weighted and the class is just your points added up and divided by 100. The class itself isn't that hard and Exams aren't bad. However, she grades the EBP beyond harshly. Good luck.

Dr. Newton can be very intimidating. She is a tough grader and expects a lot out of first semester nursing students. With that being said, she is one of the best professors in regards to her lecture. She definitely knows what she is talking about. Just be aware of pop quizzes, her EBP paper, and presentation. Ask any questions you can!

LOVE her. She is tough but it is because she wants you to learn. Follow her directions explicitly and do not deviate. She is willing to help if you reach out and you show you are truly trying to learn. She has a heart of gold and will spend ample time talking with you and helping you connect the dots. Not everyone gets to see this side of her

I really didnt enjoy this class. Her grading criteria was terrible. She had an EBP paper and gave many people I know below 70s! And this was worth 20% of our grade! The papers couldnt have been that bad! She is sassy but has a somewhat likeable personality at times. U need to read the book to pass! She like to pick lil details! Beware of pop Qs!

Two pop quizzes. One EBP. One group presentation. Follow directions for EBP and presentation and youll pass. Lecture notes are KEY to acing exams. Not textbook. FOCUS on lecture notes. She writes her exams!!! 75 questions.

She was intimidating at first but I loved her by the end of the semester. She replaced her NCP assignment with 2 pop quizzes, which are straight forward IF YOU'RE PREPARED. Exams are straight from her notes. EBP paper is toughest part but follow the example she posts. Group presentation is easy. Class is not weighted and is based on points earned.

Started the semester off w/ a pop quiz the 2nd week. She no longer assigns NCP(s), she gives pop quizzes instead. They were straight forward but the first one brought a lot of people down- they weren't prepared. Presentation grading is lenient. EBP paper is the hardest part. Exams are from lecture mostly and some reading. I aimed to pass this class

The NCP she teaches you will be different from the NCP you learn in your other classes, I believe she is a great nurse in real life but she needs to understand that she is teaching a first semester of nursing class and can't expect a graduate level writing. I am an A student but all I cared about was passing for this one. RIP to the next cohort.

Do not let the negative comments scare you. She is tough but she is trying to produce competent nurses. The tests are easy. She grades the NCP and the EBP hard but ASK HER QUESTIONS! Seriously. I e-mailed her a lot asking her a ton of questions and she answered every one and I did good on both. She is lenient on the presentation

Like everyone else said she's a very tough grader when it comes to the NCP and EBP but her exams are very straight forward. She will probably intimidate you in the beginning but she's not a bad professor, she's actually very likable. It's not impossible to pass the class as long as you put in the effort.
