He complained about having to teach this class. He just talks, but doesnt say anything and get frustrated when no one participates. He assigned assignments at mocktail(not mandatory) hours just days before due dates because he continuously cancelled class because he was constantly traveling. No clue what my grade is. FIRE THIS MAN DEPAUL.

I usually try and give each professor the benefit of the doubt, but Dr. Plaschka easily ranks as the worst professor I have ever encountered. He canceled multiple classes at the last minute, never answered emails, and was completely blasé about our concerns. I sincerely hope to never encounter this man again.

The worst professor I have ever come across! He has no clear structure on how the class has to go. He cancelled the class three times saying that he had to get a vaccine, he posts the homework in the mocktail hours. Which by the way half of the people don't even attend because it's voluntary. Doesn't help. Doesn't reply to emails. The absolute wors

This class is ridiculous, he just rambles on making no sense, Doesn't use a syllabus, you never know when things are due, I had this class on Tues, he holds additional hours on Friday nights where he assigns homework due on Tuesday. Stuff that he has never mentioned before or even posts on D2L you hear about the assignment through ppl in the class

Based on 2 Capsim simulations over 4 classes. Must finish 2 rounds per class. There is hw/reading outside of classes, even from Friday night (end 6pm) to Saturday morning (9am). Syllabus had no clear details, nor was communication sent out until 30 min before class starts. So intense and so fast paced. If you work FT, don't do it. Too much to do.

Relies heavily on prerequisite courses to a fault. Most of the class is a group project where you run a simulated company against other groups. The final is running a simulated company by yourself, so if your group decides to specialize and have everyone play to their strengths, you get crushed on the final. Class doesn't prepare you for the final.

Comment:
The class was based on a simulation of running a business. There was barely any direction in the class, he doesn't respond to emails nor has office hours. The final was harder than the group simulation but you had to do it alone and the questions were not related to anything we discussed in class. Did take away anything from this course

The simulation was the most useless and most confusing way to teach a class. No one really knew what was going on. He didn't provide clear instructions and never guided us in a particular way. He never responds to his students and he's very hard to get a hold of. Final was based on questions that were never went over in class either. Pass.

Do not take this class. Professor Plaschka is a nice guy but teaches you nothing. Still do not have a clue what went on in the class, but the final was based on a lot of questions that were not even hinted at in class. It is not related to management at all and the online simulation is not even close to a realistic representation of business

Interesting guy, explains things pretty well. The simulation leaves something to be desired, but difficult to find a better way to teach it. Try to be in a group with people that are proactive, speak up and get engaged in the simulations.

Very confusing, standardized, and vague online simulation with very little relation to the real world. He could have done a better job at being more engaging and explaining the simulation more clearly. Additionally, it was very dry simulation with no specific learning experience other than modifying numbers and hoping to be the top one.

Professor Plaschka could do a better job at explaining the online simulation in non-technical terms. He also needs to be more consistent on d2l with his posts. This is a hybrid course and hw assignment deadlines are unclear. His grading system is also very confusing. Graduate level professor, he is new at undergrad level.

Hands down one of the best professors I've had at DePaul. What most impressed me was his hands-on experience in how these concepts actually apply in the real business world, particularly in the areas of strategy and innovation. GSB599 with him was challenging, but I feel that I learned more in those four days than I did in the rest of the program

Make sure you get on a good team. Half the class gets some sort of an A and the other half get some sort of a B. My group worked really hard, but couldn't catch up in the first simulation. Everyone got a B+ in my group except on kid got a B, so the individual assignment plays a key role. Overall great simulation that takes alot into account

Excellent Class. The simulation is competitive and really takes into account a high level understanding of each of the foundation courses at DePaul. If you want to learn about preparing and implementing a strategy, this is the class to take.

You will be part of a large team to compete against other teams in a well-structured market (globally and locally). It will be intense, fun and worth your time. 60% of your grade is based on the team simulation and 40% of the individual simulation. Recommended take this course with him (+ he knows what he is talking about).

The professor is too smart. He has so much good information and is very knowledgable. He does NO teaching in this class. All group work. I took the 4 days in a row class which was tough. Do not miss class. And there is a take home piece after the class is over worth 40%. Make nice with your group as they rate you. Doesnt post grades till last min.

4-day weekend course is the way to go. Little teaching occurs as you are running a simulation in a group over the two weekends. Smart guy, lots of experience.
