Seems like a good professor, I am not taking his class, but I sent an e-mail to him and asked for the answer to his final which was taken 5 years ago, surprising enough, he replied and sent back the answer!

I love Weinstein! He cares very much about your deep understanding. He is also approachable, very amiable, and a genius. I would take an upper-div math class with him in a heartbeat!!

He's really smart! Very helpful during office hours and cares for deep understanding. Midterms were not clearly related to any bookwork and the final was very abstract but tested a deep level of understanding. But as for any math class, it comes down to how many problems you solve. Grading was reasonable and maybe a bit generous. Go to his&GSI's OH

His lectures were not really that helpful and people who slept in seem to do better than ones that went to class. His grading is not fair because you can get As on the midterms and do well on the final, but some how end up not getting anywhere near an A in the class. He does seem to care about your understanding more than some other professors.

his lectures are a waste of time. they are so weird and not related to the book. his tests are also abstract and not like the home works.

This guy's lectures are insanely boring. Though it's pretty obvious this guy is smart (and his graphs are well-drawn as well), sitting through class without falling asleep is just difficult. Lectures don't really help on the midterm either.

probably one of the worst profs. I have had at Cal. His lectures were confusing and unclear, and his tests had very little to do with examples he gave during class. Such a waste of my time.

he does show an interest in the subject and tries to have participation in the class. but his lectures are just unorganized and boring. you could read the math book and still do well. his old midterms have similar questions to the midterms and final.

Very nice guy, obviously cares about his students. Helpful after class and in office hours. Exams and quizzes were really easy, but most people didn't go to lecture and then complained about being unprepared. Lectures were clear, though probably could have been just as effective in half the time. All in all he does a good job.

This professor made me want to die/never take another college math course. His lecture is nonsense and I stopped going after a few weeks. Midterms and final didn't have much to do with things we were taught.

hmm...I think he doesn't even know what is he teaching. His lecture is not helpful at all, so i dodn't go to lecture for the whole semester, but he is a good & nice guy who are willing to help students. Very generous grader, and very easy to get A+.

He really likes to get feedback, but I'm not sure he uses the feedback when creating the exams. I suggest going to section and asking questions there, the only reason to go to lecture is for exams.

Comment:
He didn't grade on any real curve so that was good. He barely assigns HW which is a good/bad thing. Constantly asks for student feedback and gives absolutely useless lectures. Barely does example problems and tends to focus his lectures on trying to make you understand the deeper concepts.
