Comment:
Worst professor I've ever had. Don't even bother asking questions because he's no help. Awful at explanations & very condescending. Midterm was problems directly from HW but the final was all things he never taught and the average was 40%, students cried taking it. Curve at the end was insane because he taught us nothing and everyone did so poorly.

By far the worst teacher I've ever had. His lectures consisted of reading/writing stuff from the textbook word for word without explaining any of it. You're graded on HW, midterm and final. HW is all on Slader, midterm was the exact HW questions but with different numbers and the final was nothing like anything we "learned," the average was a 40%.

Professor Xu is very knowledgable, so sometimes it's hard for him to explain concepts, especially online. The lectures are basically the same, he just writes notes and follows examples. The homeworks are always just from the textbook and the exams were based off the homeworks and pretty easy. You can skip class and be fine, he always records class

If you took this class, you need linear algebra and math theory background. He looks like good at math theory but doesnt make lecture easier for beginners. If you are not good at math area, maybe you need study group and lots of self learning. Chegg is helpful for homework. No attendance grades and easy midterm.

His first time teaching STAT 2501 so I will cut him some slack and the book used for the course was poor. A lot of self teaching is required for the class and office hours were not very helpful. My advice is make a study group if you want a chance at an A. Homework is tough, Chegg or Googling was not very helpful on most problems.

I think he should not be a good professor, he assigned homework that is hard, even some he has not mentioned in class. And he always lectures content from slides. Most part is theory. Pretty boring professor. Hard to understand him sometimes.
