Prof Mayer is an amazing prof! EURO 3000 was very material heavy, but only had one lecture a week, which was the trade-off for so much reading. She is a very personable professor, and very knowledgeable, so make the effort to participate and you will be able to connect with her.

The toughest marker I have come across. Followed all directions and worked on essays for 3 days ahead and still barely managed to get above a 70%. Final exam outline unclear, asked for "significance" but not the context of what it should represent. Unavailable the two days before our exam over email and office hours. Quite rude towards students.

She's quite helpful, makes things quite clear, and she is very nice and approachable. She's not insanely harder than previous German profs, she just teaches the harder courses.

Frau Mayer is a well-educated professor who is able to clearly convey concepts and is very helpful. The course is challenging, and I particularly noticed a drop in my writing grades this semester as opposed to taking German with Mueller and Speltz. However, I still enjoyed the course and I feel like my speaking and comprehension has improved.

She is an outstandingly well educated person, who is more than willing to take the time to help. This is my third course with her, and her quality as an educator is consistent. Her courses are quite hard, yes, but she does not hide this fact. Outside of class, she has also helped me further my German through literary suggestions and scholarships.

When she marks your work, if it is not word for word to her answer key then you are probably wrong, and going to fail the assignment, and exam.

I thought professor Mayer was a very good prof. She doesn't try to trick you for quizzes or midterms... however...my opinion changed about her when I inquired about a grade I received that I didn't completely agree with. She got extremely defensive, accused me of being rude and shut down everything I asked without fair consideration. Not cool.

This prof. was not clear AT ALL. She was hard to understand both in her lectures and in her assignments. She would often set an asignment without any direction, then mark it under very specific circumstances. It also seemed like she choose her grades out of a hat. I will never take a class with this prof again.

The workload is no more than any other humanities course. I though she was an amazing prof, she obviously knew what she was talking about really well, and every lecture she gave was really interesting, and she explained all the assignments in great detail & practically gave away questions for the midterm and the quizzes. Such an awesome course.

She's a great prof if you actually put a little effort into your work. I found she was extremely understanding about coursework. Quizes and assignments are easy if you actually do the readings (imagine that!)

What kind of professor in this day in age doesn't accept papers submitted via email? And still she docs marks over the weekend on late assignments. Completely unfair to way-off-campus students who actually do have a life outside of her class. INSANE workload. That said, the course itself is worth taking despite the prof and the amount of work.

From the moment I challenged her about a grade, she had it out for me-never gave me the grades I deserved. I'm not a freshman and I know that sometimes, certain professors take power trips on the students. Needless to say, it turned me away from Euro hist for the remaining year I have at Guelph.

When she did lecture, she wasn't horrible, I was actually interested on what she said. However she was down right mean when she marked papers, and as one of the previous comments said, if u differentiated about what she thought was correct she gave you a poor mark. I can handle constructive criticism but this was ridiculous.

I've had her twice now & will agree she's a tough marker. CAUTION: Hard work ahead! +80 only if you've attained that perfect moment of Zen. She has great insight into literature pieces and encourages class discussion, though she's sometimes not open enough to ideas differing from the "correct" interpretation she has in her mind. Overall great prof.
