Took this class to get the credits and online. He records the lectures and sends them to you. Class is mandatory and if you miss the class and don't watch the lecture you will not pass his test. Very tough grader on the speeches. If you arent 100 percent fluent and on point in your speech you wont get a good grade prob around 80-86. good luck

get ready for hell if you take comm theory. This class is so lecture heavy, and on the tests furio expects you to write what he says in class word for word. This is the hardest class I've taken in college, and the only course I haven't gotten a 4.0 in. While Furio himself is a nice guy, he's a terrible prof

Lectures only for notes so you can include everything needed in speeches and on tests. Has only 2 tests in his course and 4 speeches. Fair grader on speeches as long as you include everything needed. Decent professor and is understanding. Does not use book that is required for class, tests are only on things he lectures on.

Thanks to Furio's class I had a nightmare about a blue book by Fall Break... I'm kidding, though with the emphasis on three essay-only exams and a paper to decide my grade, I was blindsided by how much my writing matters, relying mostly on lecture notes, and had to fight my way back from a poor first exam. You can forget your textbook at your dorm.

The class graded vary harshly. 60% of your grade is three exams (each worth 20%) and then the last 40% is an essay. if you fail one exam you have to get at least a 76% average on the next two exams and the essay. If you fail two exams, you fail the class. He is a vary hard grader and doesn't care if you pass or not.

Dr. Furio is a great Professor. As long as you attend lectures AND pay attention and take good notes, youll be fine. Exams are essay-heavy, and strongly relate to content from lectures. Study group helped me get through the classes and prepare for exams. Hes a great professor who genuinely cares about his students

I felt the need to do this review as I am an alumni of YCP, and owe all of my success to Dr. Furio. Yes he is an extremely difficult professor, but that's because he truly invests in hist students... and boy am I glad he invested in me.

You know what your getting w/Furio. He's a cool guy. To be honest, the first time I had him as a professor I didn't like him. But, now I know how to prepare for his style. Just be prepared for his tests (multiple essays). Make sure you know the material. I enjoy his lectures. Your hand will feel numb at the end of his tests.

Dr. Furio is a very nice guy. People don't like him because his tests are hard. Go talk to him, take the time to get to know this dude. He teaches the hardest class in the whole comm department, so prepare for a hard semester. He is a very good guy, and understanding.

Brutal grade system he applies to the class. Grading papers, he's very condescending and rude in his responses. His tests were essay formats which required a very specific and accurate representation of the notes he hands out. Literally, be as specific as possible. He seems like a nice guy, but super arrogant and condescending.

I get the feeling he likes to hear himself speak more than anything--you won't need a textbook. He also very clearly picks favorite students, so if you're one of them, you're golden. If not, then prepare for a rough time. He also definitely picks a student or two every semester to pick on. Almost every single student in my class just about failed.

Great guy and the content is interesting but his tests were way too specific in my opinion. The tests were more concerned with word-for-word textbook definitions rather than demonstrating that you even understand how to use the concepts. It was very frustrating for me to get an A on both class speeches but an F on the public speaking test.

His classes are tough, but he's amazing. He really wants to see everyone succeed, & he's the easiest professor in the Comm dept. to talk to. Attendance isn't mandatory, but it's hard to pass the tests if you miss a lot of class. He basically designed his courses so if you bomb the first test but do well the rest of the semester you'll still pass

Overall a good and interesting professor. He grades speeches more difficult and has a upwards shifted grading scale but I wouldn't let that hold you back from taking his class.

Tests are very difficult. He gives you a blue book and you have to basically write about 5 theories from memory. He is a great teacher though and knows his stuff. He will also help you if you are confused and show a desire to improve.

This guy makes public speaking a nightmare. Honestly, I think he expected people to get up and give keynote speeches when--come on!--it's an entry-level speech course. The tests were difficult, consisting of 80% terms from his lectures and 20% terms from around 100-200 pages of textbook reading. Would not recommend.

He doesn't grade speeches on how you speak. If you pick a topic he likes you will get a great grade but if you pick something he disagrees with or doesn't like, you'll be hard pressed to get a C. Transfer out while you have a chance
