He never gave a clear grading rubric and would take off .3 points with no feedback whatsoever. His tests were thrown together and he made a lot of errors yet his students pay the price for it. He gives students one day to take tests which is very frustrating as students struggle between other class schedules and work schedules.

I decided to take two classes with Kebede this semester, WORST DECISION EVER. There is a paper every week and an exam every other week. He doesn't teach at all just assigns readings and expects students to understand the material the way he does. His exams are confusing and often contradict the class material/ study guide he provides. NEVER AGAIN!

Professor Kebede is a caring instructor; he wants us to think and apply everything into our journey as sociology majors. However, he has unrealistic grading criteria. Make sure you contact him and ask for help, and his exams are tricky and contradict the study guide given. This is not an easy class and his approach with the students is-tough love.

Don't take his online class, ESPECIALLY during this pandemic. Totally unclear with his directions and doesn't provide clear feedback. Tests are difficult and study guides are confusing. Doesn't even teach, he just gives A LOT of readings and papers. To top it off, he's a VERY tough grader. I'm just taking this class because I have to. Horrible.

Gives study guides for the tests however, the tests are graded weird. The answers you put down are not the same answers you find in the study guide.

As an online professor, he basically didn't do anything but post the reading and the test. I didn't learn a thing. His Blackboard was very unorganized and it was hard to contact him. Waste of time and money.

I do not recommend taking this class online. There's a practice assignment, essay, and exam weekly (summer school). Be sure to be very specific in your essays or he might deduct points. His feedback sometimes are questions and I already had answered them in my essay. This is also a self taught class, no meetings. Tests can really affect your grade.

By far the most boring professor in the department. Tests will either make you pass or fail the class. Attendance is mandatory. His study guides are the longest thing I've ever done. Book is online. Graded on four tests and one paper. Graded hard on the paper. Offers extra credit based on attendance. The last two chapters (the final) was difficult.

Classical Sociological Theory was an interesting class he knows who attends class and who texting, so you have to pay attention. The class has 4 quizzes, 1 paper, attendance, 1 extra credit assignment. He grades really hard. TBH I HARDLY read the book that is required and I got a (B+) on the assignment paper. Other than that the class is fine.

Amazing professor. His lectures flow from the textbook. Powerpoints used are very helpful. Study guides are similar to exams given. Clear grading system. Will definitely recommend his class for other Sociology major students.

There were two midterms, a final, and an essay. It was not difficult. What helped me is reading the book and doing the study guides. I got an A on the second midterm because I read and did the study guide. I got a B- on the final because I didn't read and didn't do the study guide. Not that difficult. Just put some effort and you'll be fine.

Its clearly obvious he knows his material, however he is unclear with his criteria from the book report to the exams, power points have nothing to do with exams, he is also too busy talking about how he runs from cheetahs and had a hard life as a student, and things are easier for students now. Cant escape him he is the only one who teaches 301/302

I'll make this short and concise. Hard class. Explaining was bad. He talked about The Weeknd and Bieber. Test were really hard. Things on the test were things we didnt go over. Bad teaching. And he is the only one that teaches 301 & 302. Not good.

Decent teacher. My biggest complaint is that he's a little slow to grade papers, and as the quarter progressed he got even slower. I know everyone is busy end of quarter, and maybe there were other circumstances causing the delay, but it got frustrating and at times made me wonder how committed he is to his online class(es).

To be honest,Based on these reviews I looked into dropping the class but it was too late! I am glad I stayed in the class because it was not as bad as everyone made it seem. You just need to really read the book and look at his study guides . I ended up with an A in the class. everyone who complained probably didn' read and look at the study guide

Went to his office hours to get clarity on his exams, and he was absolutely no help. It was so bad that a few of the students went to speak to the chair of the sociology department because Dr. Kebede seems like he was actually trying to fail his students. I have heard from other soc. majors that he is very tough. I would not recommend him online.

I took SOC 301, 302, and 312 with Dr. Kebede. He is hilarious I love his cheetah joke! For 312 online, there are 5 short notes, 5 quizzes, and 1 paper. He grades easy on the paper. Quizzes are somewhat confusing but not too bad if you read the textbook. He responds emails quickly.

Complete the study guides Initially I thought the tests would be the usual but believe me you will want to prep for them the paper and short notes were my strengths, the exams not so much They are confusing as he uses different terminology rather than what is actually in the book Attended his office hours, nice guy, passionate but I struggled a bit

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! He is honestly the WORST professor I have ever had! He is not helpful, his test are not what is in the book, and he is EXTREMELY tough. If you want to pass I would recommend you do NOT take this class with him. Maybe he is different in person for this class, but online he is the WORST teacher EVER!

Dr. Kebede is fabulous. Funny, entertaining, and a fountain of knowledge. He made an otherwise sort of boring subject interesting and his expectations were not bad at all.
