The tests were hard, especially the final. The way he set up his lectures was cool and understandable but the exams were way harder and more complicated than what we saw in lectures. Go the the PALS sessions and do all the practice exams/questions to get used to his complicated, confusing, and difficult question style.

Dr. Harrington has been the best professor I have had over the pandemic. The structure of his lectures have been, hands down, the best out of all of my classes. He is super helpful with any questions you have and explains things very clearly.

This course was extremely interesting. It included many real life examples and Dr. Harrington really made sure to line up his lecture content with the lab content. His asynchronous lectures were quite well done, however he's not extremely approachable to ask questions.

Dr. Harrington adapted to online teaching very well, and I really enjoyed how the course was run. His lectures break down concepts and are very engaging.

I absolutely loved this style, extremely straightforward and exams were exactly like the lecture material. He had practice midterms that he said were from previous terms and this is where I believe his bad reviews come from: the old practice midterms were very hard, harder than our exams. I think his online-covid style of teaching is way easier.

I personally enjoy his teaching style, and he genuinely made me interested in the topics. However, he is probably the least helpful individual outside of class. I emailed him to question a grade, and he was probably the least helpful that he could be. He refuses to be wrong, so if you're upset about his marking, don't even bother questioning it.

Initially, I was scared of this course because I heard how tough his exams are. But, there are so many resources there to help us do well from his zoom meetings, PAL sessions, practice questions to the docs where you can post questions (get 6% for it). Not gonna lie, you gotta work hard and practice to do well- this isn't a memorizing course.

The average for the first midterm in this class was just above 50%. This is because the exams are extremely short and each question is a written response with multiple parts. If you dont know how to do one multiple step question, you will not get a good mark. I had this class partially in person and partially online due to covid.

I did not enjoy his class at all and i was excited for biol207. his tests are nothing like what he teaches or his practice exams. if you get him, goodluck. participation matters.

He is probably the worst prof I have had. Lectures don't include what's actually on the tests. Notes are just some lame diagrams. Expects everyone to think the way he does. Tests are graded inconsistently. Expects you to have extensive background knowledge on the topics that are not part of the course. Unhelpful when asked for clarifications. Lazy.

Mike was a good professor. He is funny and is very knowledgable. Except his exams were a little difficult. His lecture notes were also not very detailed so you had to go to class to get the notes. Textbook was not really used that much except for extra help.

There has been couple of times he did not give me marks for the questions that I technically did right in the test and it was very frustrating when talking to him cause he would not care about what you said! I had a feeling that he did it to keep the class curve the way he wanted and thats not okay at all

His slides are too simplified and he talks fast so going over the lectures is even more confusing. Midterm was the hardest test Ive ever taken, the written questions make no sense even if you study. Assignments were also incredibly hard and TAs were brutal with marking. Obsessed with drawing figures and expects everyone to learn that way. AVOID!

I genuinely like this man. Hes very helpful and genuinely wants to see you pass. He is a tough grader and some of his tests aren't the best but if you want to take genetics you really won't regret it. He made class during quarantine really nice considering how hard it was. Over all great guy and great professor.

I love Dr. Harrington's lectures. It was fun, very helpful, and pretty much a review to high school biology. Quizes and tests are reasonable, it is not easy, but not hard if you study well. Side note, his draws faces on every cell or organism on the white board and his drawings are amazing and easy to remember.

Mike was a great bio prof. He tests straight from his slideshows and what he says in class, but he doesn't post annotated notes so you have to go to class... plus there's an ePoll you get graded on. However he is very specific with his exams which made it harder to study for because you need to know EVERYTHING, but if you study: easy A.

This class was not too difficult because all of the tested material is very specific to the PowerPoints Mike shows in class (also available online). He goes through lectures very fast so be prepared to write down lots of information. His midterm and exam are fair tests and all the answers to each question on the exam are from the lectures.

Comment:
Not a good prof at all. Do not take this class!!! He does not care about his students at all and makes it seem like he wants all students to fail. Even if you get a 90 it is very unlikely that you will get an A. His grading system does not seem fair. He is NOT caring at all and attempts to be funny when he is not.
