I've taken Ray for a few classes. He is the Department head of Surveying and is very knowledgeable. I'm at a bit of an advantage because I have a surveying background but all the answers to the homework are packed into his prerecorded lectures. Everything is laid out clearly. Do the work and you will get a good grade.

Comment:
Ray is clearly a genius when it comes to surveying. Seriously, he genuinely understands it inside and out. That being said, the man couldn't teach to save his life. He can't seem to stay on topic, lacks any form of order, and really has no idea how to explain concepts. He seems to assume one just knows what he's talking about. Questions are futile

I've taken many of his classes. He is not tough. Some don't like his southern accent. Not extremely meticulous with words, but he doesn't teach English. He clearly only wants his students to succeed and understand the material. He doesn't throw any punches. Very knowledgable about surveying, engineering and survey law.

Surveyors by nature are up to date with technology, I'm surprise his online lectures are so dated. They are long and he goes in circles making the audience develop ADD. Some online lectures are more than 14 years old! Ray, I know you are old-fashion, grab a new camera and record a lecture using a chalkboard, do not assume we read your mind.

Comment:
I have an online class with Ray. His online lectures are horrid; he will spout off about stuff without providing any context. Labs in person are fine, which makes it super annoying since the material is a breeze, but he is a helpless articulator. His composition in the online lectures are like that of a young child. Good dude. Incredible he's a phd

Great teacher. Knows his stuff. Show up to class, take notes, and you'll do fine. All quizzes are take home, exams are hard, but open note.

Test questions are very ambiguous . . . "multiple guess." Tough to follow in lecture, but the easiness of the labs make up for it all in the end.
