I am from the Class of 2018 - often dubbed as the "smartest year" in SAF history. I got CFE honour roll and am now a CPA working at a large bank as a manager. However, even I barely passed (53%) this class back then and I knew there was a problem with Carty. Even after all these years, it still haunts me so here's 1 star for the trauma.

Prof is clueless during lectures and is very lost whenever she teaches. Strong suggest you not have her.

She is the worst possible prof that you can ever have. My advice is to go to the class of another prof if you want a chance of passing the course. A more serious concern is why is this woman that has less than 50 iq and probably don't know the difference between debit and credit hired as a prof. Why would anyone want to go to a university like this

If you have her, good luck. She doesn't even know the content enough to teach it.

I've never given a bad rating to a prof. And at first, when I saw the things that people wrote about her, I thought it was an exaggeration. I was wrong. You're a prof. know your content at least as well as the students, instead of saying "don't ask me questions, i need to look over it, its not fresh in my mind."

She is the most incompetent professor, does not teach, have to rely on the textbook to learn, is not helpful, and suggests to students that failing the class is very normal (?? that is not normal???). When students consistently with 80s are all failing exams, there is something wrong with the exam design, not the students.

I don't understand why there is so much hate towards Lynn :( I mean yeah the exam was slightly on the more difficult side but we were prepared very well in class :) she is actually a very nice person once you get to know her, I'm not even a top student and I perfectly understood the variance questions, only if people paid more attention in class :(

I would have thought that by this point, SAF would hold its professors to a higher standard of teaching and that professors would strive to continuously improve, not continue bad practices from other courses. I am appalled but not surprised that Professor Carty would evaluate students primarily on concepts that she herself did not fully comprehend.

I had attended every lecture this term and found no value in them. She does not know the material well enough to teach, as many people have already stated. The exam was in no means fair and barely tested what was taught in class. I really don't see the point of screwing over students this far into the program.

Just finished writing the final for AFM482. This course could not have been taught any better. I went into the final a little worried that I may not be able to maintain my 97% average in AFM, but as soon as I saw the final all my worries went away. She did such an amazing job preparing me for the exam and I thought the final was fair and fun!

Honestly, that exam was messed. Not even the hardest textbook questions is that difficult. Or should I say that it was worded so vaguely that you just don't know what they are asking, so even if you know your stuff you won't be able to do it.

You can tell from the final exam that she just wants you to fail. She makes the wording so obscure on purpose so no one knows what shes asking. She capped that huge question at 45/75 to make sure you won't pass. She has this huge ass stupid smile after we finished the exam and told us to all take PREP modules instead, remember guys, it's module 9!

She used to teach in Guelph and it was fine. But she's really salty because she was never in AFM and she wants everyone to fail cuz she never got in AFM or MAcc. That's why she tries to fail every class she teaches (391,481,482). She always tell her students "don't worry guys, just fail the class and retake it next year, I did that a lot in school"

What can I say, she's literally the female version of Thomas Manning - except she's worse. She doesn't teach and she doesn't know her sht. People would ask her questions in class, she'd smile and look around to see anyone can answer it for her or she'd go like, "sorry guys I memorized this back in school, so I never understood it".

The only reason why I gave a 2 instead of a 1 is that she seems to be a nice person. Throughout the whole term I don't think she indeed teach anything. She basically just asked students about the textbook questions and then showed the answers very quickly. And the exam is way more complicated and harder than what she taught in class.

I think she prepped really well for this course and it was helpful to come to class. She's a really nice person in general and a little shy (which is why some people think she doesn't know her answers, but in reality, sometimes she just gets a little nervous asked a question in the spot but usually gets back to you - for me, thats fine)

She's a nice person but a not so great prof. When a student asks questions she diverts the question back to the students. On the surface, it looks like she's trying to engage in class discussion, but in reality, she doesn't know the content herself.
