If you aren't a strong writer, I would not reccomend the class. The only assignments are a few papers and then a final one (the papers are usually a little over a page) but the material yours elaborating on it brutal. It's so dull and boring, but if you're a good writer then I reccomend taking it!

Teaching assistant mainly grades papers. Gives good feedback. You do 1 journal, 2 blogs, 3 papers. Lectures are long. Instructions for papers & the lectures can be cryptic / hard to understand due to the wording because Dr. Koegler is an expert on the topic so it takes a while to think about what its asking but its fairly easy. Got an A!

Gives great feedback on what may needed to worked on, not graded by much in his class. Does give you time to work on papers and also gives you lots of resources for things. Its a lot of reading.

Class was interesting overall and I ended with a B+. He graded fairly easy and the essays are not hard to do if you sit down and think about the topic. The way that he words things can be a little frustrating because he knows so much about it that its hard to comprehend his instructions on the essay.

Professor Koegler is an excellent instructor. I recommend this course to any philosophy student or anyone looking to satisfy upper level elective credits. I LOVED his course. I appreciate teachers who make me want to learn and Koegler does just this. I earned an A in his course and learned so much!

He clearly loves philosophy and he knows what he is talking about but he expects students to be just as knowledgable as him. He also grades based on his opinion sometimes so don't disagree with him too much. Get ready to read dozens of lectures (each one 8-12) pages and write 2 blogs, 1 journal entry, and 3 papers.

Koegler is a true gem! His course invites you to think abstractly using unique philosophical tools and methods. This course is not for beginners but certainly is accessible if you know how to study and ask questions. The course is technical and requires attention to lectures, notes, reading material. Worth it to take this class!

I LOVED his Philosophy of Music course! I learned so much about life and myself. I took this class online, he wrote out lectures that outlined our readings & recorded them. A little language barrier, but if confused about what he is asking just email him. Not super easy, but if willing to give good effort, then intellectual outcome rewarding.

I took Koegler's Philosophy of Music course looking for an easy class towards a needed philosophy credit. This was one of my hardest classes this semester. I typically grasp philosophy theories quickly - and this material wasn't too far out of that realm for me - but the teaching material/lectures were contradictory and VERY long winded.

Professor Koegler is great! I enjoyed taking his class, and I learned a lot about the philosophy behind politics, it was fascinating. He is an easy grader and he lets people debate in class about whatever philosopher or concept we are learning that day. He is big on allowing people from their own opinions, and he is caring and funny.

Professor Koegler is great! He is a man that has knowledge on just about every subject. He even took our class to the Boathouse (school restaurant/bar) and bought us drinks and food during finals week! He is overall a very interesting person. If you like Philosophy, I definitely recommend taking a class with Dr. Koegler.

Definitely take Dr. Koegler if you have the opportunity, especially philosophy majors and grad students. He's great! Charming, funny, interesting, intellectual, inspiring, sometimes baffling, usually profound. He's also a fair grader, has reasonable expectations, not too much work (do read though!), and above all encourages learning and thinking.

Professor Koegler is a deeply passionate and knowledgeable instructor. This is one of the best online classes I have ever taken. His lectures were written with enough detail that it did not feel overwhelming and the accompanying recorded lectures were most helpful. The papers that were required allowed for individual experience to be valued. Loved

He's an awesome professor, Philosophy of Music online is not something I would recommend taking. He's so intelligent and I really think not being able to get help in person when I couldn't understand the information in the course was what lead to my downfall. He was super nice though, encouraging and absolutely brilliant. Just don't take THIS class

Dr. Koegler's knowledge in philosophy (particularly in the philosophy of language) is reason enough to take this course. Philosophy majors should make an effort to take a Dr. Koegler taught course before he/she graduates, as he only teaches one course a year. The material is dense, but it's worth it. An A or B is attainable if you go to lectures.

I love how Dr. Kogler made his class understandable even though I don't have an extensive background in philosophy. The class was challenging, but not too challenging. We wrote 3 papers and read fragments of multiple interesting texts. Overall, I'm glad I took this course with Dr. Koegler and I recommend you take this course too.

Though directed more toward philosophy majors, anyone with an interest in language would find this class very appealing! It was as tough as it needed to be, with only three justly-graded papers, clear in its explanation of difficult yet interesting texts, which besides two cheap books were provided for free, and left me wanting to know more!

He is very intelligent and nice. Have to admit though if you don't already have a background of various terms (ontological, phenomenological, etc.) then you'll find it hard to understand. Only 3 papers and attendance not mandatory. Go if you want to learn something on a higher level. I liked this class a lot.
