Jessica was one of my favorite professors I have had so far (I am in my second year now). She is so kind and helpful and makes everyone in the class feel included. Would definitely recommend her classes to anyone. She also helped me A LOT with my writing and I learned so much more from one semester with her compared to all of highschool english.

Dr. Slights is one of the best profs in the English department. At first, I found she was a challenging grader and was worried about her class; however, she is dedicated to helping her students and really pushes us to succeed. Her lectures are engaging and she is always open for students to come chat. She has helped me grow significantly this sem.

Wonderfully insightful. I really enjoyed her full year Shakespeare course. You need to be there for lectures but her lectures are fascinating anyways. Kind, helpful and very clear on what she wants from you.

Dr. Slights is a wonderful professor and one of the most respected people at Acadia. She has taught me valuable skills about Shakespeare and English literature in general. Anyone that wants to learn something should take her class!! A+++

She's extremely enthusiastic about Shakespeare and gives very clear lectures. That being said, for as friendly and bubbly she is in class - she's an extremely hard marker. Her comments on essaysassignments are blunt and often come off as being very sarcastic.

She can be a little passive aggressive in both her emails and office hours. She's lovely in public settings, though. It's just behind the performance that she's maybe not the nicest.

She is passionate about Shakespeare and her enthusiasm is certainly infectious. But I found her to be unsympathetic to extenuating circumstances, especially when it came to extensions. I know profs aren't here to coddle, but c'mon: a fatally ill family member? We're expected to be "intellectually productive" with that on our minds? Her words.

Jessica is an incredibly intelligent, enthusiastic, and engaging professor. She can be a slightly tough marker but her comments are always constructive, and if you make the effort to come to her with questions, she will give you great advice. She has a heart of gold, a great sense of humour, and a deep well of caring for her students. Charming.

Jessica was my honours supervisor and shakespeare prof in second year, and I love her! Engaging, lively, loves a controversial essay and marks you well if you are logical and support your claims. As a supervisor she is extremely laid back and lets you set your own deadlines. Writes a great letter of reco, and helped me get into McGill grad school.

A "lively" lecturer. Slights is very picky about grammar and the mechanics of a paper, but she cares more about the thesis' originality. She loves her students' papers to be controversial, but always back up your arguments with quotes. She is very helpful during office hours. Her quizzes are straightforward and fair - she drops the 3 lowest!

I loved having Dr. Slights as a professor. I found her teaching style to be engaging, and not only that, she was incredibly open to varying interpretations of Shakespeare. She wasn't the type to belittle any student's ideas, even if she didn't particularly agree with them. I only wish I had had the opportunity to take other classes with her.
