I would die for this man. Best professor I've ever had, even if he does consistently give me my lowest grades. Engage with the material and he will make you love to learn again. An essential part of the Mt. A liberal arts experience. Readings are optional, but they make the class considerably easier, so do them if you can.

I would DIE for him. He genuinely cares about his students and wants them to succeed. He is a tough grader, but his classes are worth the hassle. He is extremely knowledgable and his lectures are always so fascinating. He is very quiet so sit in the front. He loves when people participate and discusses the readings, so do the readings!

Dr. Lundell is very passionate about history and knows his stuff. You can certainly learn a lot from his class. However, he is a bit too tough of a grader, especially for a first year class. Also, how you were graded for tutorials was unclear, thought it was based on participation but they mostly consisted of him talking.

Possibly the worst prof ever. 2019 and he still doesn't use a computer so you have course selection without any pertinent course details (they get dropped on you a day before course reg ends). He "misplaces" written complaints and take no accountability for his shortcomings.

Incredibly passionate about history. Very picky (but helpful) feedback on papers, but actual grades are usually not too harsh. You really only need to do the tutorial readings; he doesn't test on the other ones. Very caring and willing to help you if you go to office hours! Less scary than he looks and a really great professor overall.

Lundell encourages his students to look at history analytically and really pushes them to do their best work. On his exams, he makes questions about the things you wouldn't expect (the smaller, less significant things you don't expect him to test on) so you are forced to know EVERYTHING just in case. I never opened the book for this course.

Incredible prof! He's a really cool guy that's so passionate about what he teaches. He genuinely cares about his students, and he'll work to help you improve. His lectures and tutorials are really interesting and enjoyable. He's quiet, so sit close to the front, but you definitely won't regret taking his class.

Excellent lectures and tutorials! A really lovely dude who's genuinely passionate and very knowledgable about his field of study. Lots of readings from primary sources, but tests are on details mentioned explicitly in class. Pay attention to specific locations and general chronology! Very fair marker, and super willing to give detailed feedback.

Very passionate about history & this definitely comes through in his lectures. The assigned readings aren't bad, but test material is directly based on stuff he mentions in class & the readings aren't enough to pass on if you skip. Not too hard a marker if you put actual thought into your work, but the quizzes are sometimes on very random details.

He talks rather quietly and can be hard to hear at times. History can be dry, but he always infuses his lectures with humour, which keeps things interesting. I didn't do so well on my last paper and asked for advice on how to improve- he was quick to respond and willing to help, so I trust that any advice he gives will be well worth it.

I want to only take history courses from this man. He has a dry great sense of humor, voice kinda quiet so sit near front. Take if interested in subject

An amazing prof who is extremely clear in his teaching. He relies equally on lectures, tutorials and readings for his tests. Don't take his courses if you want a high mark, but take them if you want to learn a subject properly.

Lundell was a fantastic teacher. I really loved his lectures, and he is sure a funny old guy! He marks so hard, though. Like seriously- I would have had a 4.1 GPA if it weren't for this class! You have to put a lot of work in, and he almost never gives As. Even a B+ is fantastic in Lundell's class! Otherwise, he is an amazing professor!

Great guy, very helpful and accommodating to your needs. He does speak very quiet but it's not really that bad once you get used to it. Plus he's consistently speaking which makes it easier to pay attention. He's also very interested and into his field of study which makes the class much more interesting as well.

Exams are tough - often topics I think were too unimportant to spend much time studying come up. He's a hard marker, and the classes are definitely a challenge. But I enjoy his classes more than any others. The difficulty of them doesn't seem to matter so much because the lectures are fascinating and enjoyable. He's definitely an impressive Prof!
