Comment:

Prof. Masterson is not a mean man, but is a terrible prof. I am a decent math student and this class was extremely difficult for me. He talks very low (both in volume and pitch), which makes it difficult to focus. The test questions were 10x harder than the examples in class and if you didn't solve it exactly his way he would mark it wrong.

Prof Masterson is not great at explaining things clearly. However, the online HW site has video lessons so I don't pay attention in class and teach myself the course as I do HW. Quizzes/Tests are all 4 questions and easy if you study even a little. Consistently keeps class extra 15 mins. Very easy class w/ any prior calc/stat knowledge. Hw is easy.

I had never taken calc before and damn I needed help. I advise getting a tutor because in class you cannot pay attention due to the monotonous teaching along with the difficulty. He means well but it is hard to learn from him. Also, do go to him and show that you want to do well he may bump up your grade if you do well on the final.

If you have not had any calculus experience, good luck. Professor Masterson wasnt a mean or anything, but he doesnt truly teach the class, however he is available for office hours and accessible right after class to go over what happened in class. If you have had calculus experience and end up with Masterson, don't panic you will be fine.

Professor Masterson is, in my opinion, a terrible professor. He takes everything from the book, and he explains nothing. You pretty much have to teach yourself the course. He posts nothing to blackboard and you never know what your grade is. If you aren't the best at math, stay away because this is not the professor for you.

He doesn't really explain the lessons well and all he does is write examples on the board. However, the quizzes aren't too bad because if you study the examples he did during classes before, you'll be fine. There is a lot of online homework that somewhat doesn't really correlate with the stuff he does in class. If you study you should be fine.

He's the worst. Make sure you get a seat in the front row or you won't be able to hear his mumbling. he never explains what he's doing, and he doesn't teach it in a way that's easy to understand. He basically just mumbles to himself and draws equations on the board. VERY head in the clouds. DO NOT take him

Professor just does example problems without explaining the material. The homework is optional, but this makes the class very test heavy since there is only 3 exams and the final. His tests are 5 questions for about 2-3 chapters of information. If you never took calculus before, do not take this class!

Because this professor is tenure, he doesn't care whether you pass or not. He gives an extreme amount of homework and gives tests', quizzes, and computer assignments frequently. He is definitely too old to even be teaching at this point. He fails you even if you receive A's on your homework assignments.

If there's one piece of advice I could give anyone it would be to NEVER take this professor. I went to tutors and learned through them, however he gave me no credit on several problems because they weren't his way and he doesn't give partial credit on anything! Unless you're a genius in calc do not take him, he isn't worth the stress.

He is probably the spawn of Satan. You could not pay me enough money to take this class again. Do not take this teacher. He is absolutely the worst teacher I have ever encountered.

If i could grade him a 0, I would. Worst professor I have ever taken. Explains things horrible and is skittish and frantic. His lectures are boring and he's horrible and explaining things. I feel bad because i'm sure he's a very nice man, just really not a great professor.

Very bad teacher. I can say in all honestly I didn't learn a thing from him. I learned everything from better calc teachers online. He's the worst math teacher I've ever had. The material is very easy but he presents it terribly and nitpicks excruciatingly on assignments. If you must take him, just look everything up online and you'll do fine :)

He isn't that bad.. I stressed over this class but that's because I wouldn't study for tests/quizzes. His teaching... ehhh I practiced with the homework, which is online. He is very lenient when it comes to grading. I got all the questions wrong on a quiz but because I used the correct formulas he gave me a 50. The final was easy.

Masterson is do-able.. but I recommend that you have some background of calc before taking him. He can be unclear and confusing. I took calc before and I got a B+ after taking him. Don't freak out, just do the practice problems from the book he gives you, they are similar to the ones on the test

People give this guy a bad rep, but I liked him as a person. He didn't make sense sometimes/rambled a lot but if you needed help, he would help right away. Most freshman aren't used to how profs teach so they just complain instead of actually trying. Never took calc before and got a B+ just by working my butt off. Math is never easy to teach!!

Okay so this guy gets way more negativity than he's due. If you've taken Calc before, this class is an easy A. People complain because he's a stickler for explanation but that's only because he doesn't want you to bs to get an answer. His lectures are long and the material isn't fun but if you ask for an explanation you'll get it. Fair guy, it's ok

Avoid at all costs! Worst teacher yet. Sure he knows what he's talking about, but when it comes to actually teaching, he fails in that department. If I had a re-do, I definitely would not take him. Do the homework, gives a lot but doesn't collect all. Helps before test and answers all questions, he just drifts off onto irrelevant things. Avoid.
