My biggest complaint with this professor is that he would grade you down a lot if he disagreed with your opinion. I agree with all the other comments here, both good and bad.

rink sucks. the class is challenging, but it is college and that should be expected; however, tests are VERY time constrained: multiple choice + short answer + essay question in one class period. also, he grades papers based on unfair biases and if HE disagrees or does not understand something, he will mark you down.

rink is a hard professor for sure & arrogant. his tests are challenging, he grades hard, and requires a lot of outside reading and such. i must say though that i can appreciate history a lot more now since i took his class. hes full of information and therefore be prepared to take lots of notes. the class can be interesting.

A student, he was first to give me a B. studied a lot! did every assignment& nvr missed class. very long tests considering time constraints. expectations were far too high. in the honors class-many failed or did poorly. widely hated by students. knowledgeable but RUDE. snapped back and belittled students when asked questions. DONT EVER TAKE HIM!!!!

Brilliant, Challenging, and Focused. I can tell by some of the comments that those who are slackers have had difficulty with Rink. DUH! He treats college students like college students should be treated. If you want to be coddled, spoon, fed, and act like you're still in high school don't waste his time, or the time of those who are serious about

The O-Rink is an incredibly smart professor. His lectures are actually enjoyable because he doesn't even use notes, he starts on a subject and then talks about it until class is over. Also, he tries to keep it on the d/l, but any chance to make fun of religion he totally takes it. Props to the O-Rink!

It was a very interesting class wiht multiple page of notes each day. Prof. Rink is very interested in his subjec and has a good sense of humor. His standards are that of UCLA, which is the only problem.

Oliver Rink is the smartest man in the universe. He is very arrogant at times, but has every right to be. Hands down the best history professor I have ever taken. I had him for both of his Colonial classes and I worked extremely hard, but at times it didn't seem like work. Go to class every period and read half of the time. NOT AN EASY CLASS,BUT FUN

This was one of the best History courses I've ever taken. This class and teacher are for the serious student. lots of reading and note taking, but he's worth it. I look forward to taking another class with him. there is a lot of info to remember for the mid-term and final and a couple of papers to write.

I am a biology major that thinks history is just that, history in the past, but i enjoyed Dr. Rink's class. He made history fun and interesting. His lectures are well researched, clear, attetntion keepers, and orderly. His tests are what he discussed in class so just go to class, participate, and you will do fine. I never read and earned a 98%!

Dr. Rink is the best History professor in the department. If you're a History major, I highly recommend him. His lectures are inspiring, and his sense of humor is great. His classes are a lot of work, but its well worth it--take him.

His lectures are well researched, informative and extremely interesting (not inspiring check the definition). He is definitely human with human flaws. The favorites are obvious (if you are not a history major forget it). In a nutshell brilliant, enlarged ego with impuse control issues!!!

Some people confuse egomaniacism with confidence. And some people confuse favoritism with intolerance for stupidity. He's a great teacher. I took a couple of his classes and came away enlightened. You probably didn't do the reading. He can tell.

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE prof. I am a GOOD student but i had to drop the class because if ever a teacher played favorites, HE does. hes rude, an egomaniac, and is not interested in helping his students. seriously think twice before you take a class with him!
