Comment:
The topic was Freud. Professor Peters was so amazing, I took another one of his classes as an elective. The material he covers is very interesting and thorough, and he is very passionate, and critical, about the subject. The papers are some work, but there is room for fun. I really recommend him for anyone who likes German Lit and culture.

Definitely in the top 2 professors I've had at McGill. Fantastic lectures, wouldn't miss one for the world. Makes you a Marxist through and through. Fair grader, values creativity in theses if you defend them well. Just an overall dope prof, the kind you hope to always have.

Extremely inspiring lecturer. Need to be on similar level of intellectual acuity as him to profit. Lectures all over the place but very poignant and flowing. Jives w creative, interesting people who love knowledge: you're there to learn, not to pass. Better to impress him than follow instructions. Quite possibly the only trippy professor at McGill.

Peters is THE BEST. Really unconventional-looking but in every way FANTASTIC. Funny, hip, entertaining, fun to watch lecture, engages students in discussions and actually considers their views valid. Doesn't sweat the small stuff. So into the course material, and incredibly knowledgeable. He KNOWS Vienna, man.

one of the best profs i have had at mcgill! very passionate and intelligent. very interesting taking his class on kafka during a lot of union worker and student protests at mcgill. work load was completely reasonable and class discussions were fascinating. he is fantastic, although his expectations arent always clear and his office hrs were limited

For wonderfully weird, you can't get much better than Paul Peters. He can be an acquired taste, but after 3 classes what I remember is his brilliance, exuberance, wicked sense of humour, and willingness to explore new ground and provoke new thoughts (a unique quality in McGill lit profs!). For real intellectual stimulation, Peters is your guy.

Hopeless. Picks favourites and very difficult to understand the way HE wants the essays to be written no matter how hard you try and no matter how much to go to him for help. Not recommended.

Good course, Literary Approach to Song. He knew his subject matter. It was a take home exam, which was nice. but he marked the papers really really hard. Really intelligent, kind and understanding guy.

The first two weeks of class were fantastic, but Peters quickly exhausted his store of insights into Kafka. The rest of the term was mostly spent repeating earlier ideas. He also sacrificed lecture time to students for presentations -- rarely good in a 300-level course. Failed to do Kafka justice.

Absolutely phenomenal class! My favorite this semestre by far and the best literature class I've ever taken. Prof Peters loves Kafka and his lectures show it. He's also incredibly friendly, down-to-earth and helpful inside and outside of class.

passionate, makes up words to make his point clearer, very engaging lecturer. my favourite class this term. pretty demanding essays, for a 300-level course. quirky, as an understatement. a wealth of peripheral knowledge. definitely worth taking the class.
