Gives you every resource you need to succeed. Her slides cover everything that show up on exams. Has a great selection of practice problems and quizzes. Lectures aren't very interesting but covers all the information you need.

Ruth is a decent prof for 298. She is very straightforward and has nailed down her lectures to cover the most important topics. Do all of the available practice questions that you have access to and you should do fine. Do not leave it till the last few days to study since the material is heavy and there is a lot to cover.

Comment:
COMM 298 was definitely challenging and requires a good amount of effort. All the content for the course that actually appears on exams is on the slides. They provide a good amount of practice resources for the mid-term and final, but lectures were pretty difficult to engage with because the professor just read off of the slides.

Ruth does not care about the students' learning, she just reads off the slides, and her lectures are SO BORING. I'm planning on going into finance and her class almost convinced me otherwise. If you go to her office hours she makes you feel like an idiot for asking a question and is so aggressive and demeaning in her tone. do not recommend.

Honestly, I think she's average - not the best, not the worst. I appreciate how accessible she is during office hours and I like her sweet demeanour. At the same time, I think that her classes are too lecture-heavy that we can't get to work in groups nor get to know other students in the class. If that's your thing, then she's your prof.

ruth just sucks in every way. so rude, often times tells students not to ask questions since it would take too much time. reads directly off the slides during class. and she is just not nice. do not try to ask her to clarify or to help explain something. avoid if you can!!

Ruth is one of my favorite profs ever. She explains concepts really well and her lecture notes are very clear. As long as you put in a decent amount of time to study and do the practice problems, you'll do fine on the midterm and final. I love how she has tons of office hours before the exams too.

Ruth is the best with explanations. She is also very caring and provides tons of office hours so make sure you use them. She can be intimidating at first but that's just the way she talks lol. If you go to office hours you can see she really cares and wants you to get the material. Super smart lady and great prof.

Ruth is a great woman and a great professor. Crystal clear in explanations, crystal clear lecture notes, no textbook needed. Give a look to the lecture notes before class, bring them to class, pay attention, do the exercises available on Canvas once back home, and you will pass with a good grade.

Ruth was really good at focusing more on quantitative over qualitative content in lectures, which was more important for the exams. Midterm was super hard but the final was easy which balanced it out. No textbook so doing the optional practice problems were the best way to study.

Boring class. Boring lectures. Very hard to focus. The professor makes the class very un-interesting. Practically have to self-study the entire course. I would do the same whether there was a professor or not.

Ruth has really clear explanations and class slides are easy to understand. Midterm and final were also fair. I ended up doing really well by keeping up with the problem sets each week and redoing the problem sets a few times before the exam. If you know how to do the problem sets, you'll know how do to her exams :)

Hands down one of the worst professor I have had. Her lecture will put you to sleep, she reads her notes and by correcting mistakes in them she thinks she is adding value. (through lectures) If you go to her office hours she is rude and not helpful. This is the worst grade I received in Sauder out of any course.

One of the best professors in Sauder. Go to lectures, do the practice problem sets posted each week (do them each week, not all at once before the exam), and you will easily get 90+. There's nothing on the exam you won't have seen before, and she is pretty lenient with part marks. Take her for 298 if you can.

Don't need the textbook. Solid teacher who tests what she teaches and is super fair. Doesn't scale because her exams are straight forward and if you do the practice sets you should be able to ace this course. Early morning lectures are super painful and dry but honestly don't need to be in class to understand the concepts. Best teacher I've had

She's a good professor with clear lecture slides although she's quite intimidating and her exams are very tough (some multiple choice questions worth 5 marks had no marks for working).

Solid, no-nonsense professor for both COMM 298 and COMM 370. Go to lecture, take notes and do the practice problems and these courses won't be a challenge. Textbook not needed for either course, helpful via email in after class.
