Every day, I prayed that something bad would happen to me just so that I could get out of his class. Decent guy, terrible prof

i genuinely don't understand how he has such a high rating. yes, the man is very nice, but the work load is absolutely ridiculous. you're expected to type papers of 1000 (aka 4 pages) every week in addition to the research-based discussion board posts. also, he's very vague about the final project. don't take him. trust me.

Professor Heinrichs is such a nice guy. This class was hybrid due to corona and he was very accommodating to those in class and those in person. He genuinely cared about his students and their wellbeing. We didn't need to buy a textbook and he linked all of the readings on Blackboard. Some readings were long but were easy to understand.

Prof. Heinrichs is easily the most caring, kind, and understandable professor I have had. He makes lectures really interesting about art and history and connects it to human needs in a unique way. He is so kind and understanding to his students; I definitely recommend his as a professor.

Makes the art he talks about very interesting, his lectures can be quite fascinating. Occasionally a very funny guy too. There's lots of readings and a few "pop quizzes" on them, although he makes it pretty obvious when he's gonna give one.

Prof Heinrichs is very funny and he WILL make art interesting. The class is simple, he lectures and people participate. No textbook so lots of reading and lots of pop quizzes. Grading is not so clear, HE won't even know for sure what your grade is, but I thought I was going to get a B- and got an A. Put effort in and it seems you'll get an A too

Maybe he's different in other classes, but for art and human needs I thought he was awesome. Very fair grader, interesting material, and constantly tries to connect the subject matter to your major. Beware: a lot of readings, but they're fascinating. Show up to class, do the readings, and put any amount of effort in and you should get at least a B+

Probably the best German accent you'll find on campus. Great art history professor, even better entertainer. The class does require memorization, but it isn't too bad. Midterm weighs the most, there will be 2 papers & 2 reading quizzes. He really isn't a bad professor and his grading is straight forward- just show up, pay attention, and participate

A rude professor who does have interesting material to cover, but does a poor job doing so. He is extremely harsh if no one in the class understands a certain photograph or piece of art that he displays on the screen. His grading is extremely hard especially the papers and midterms. DO NOT TAKE HIM.

Horrible, inconsistent in his direction. Penalization for "last minute" posts... Coming from a design major with a passion in this field. I would highly recommend another professor. There are MUCH better in this department then this horrible professor.

Amazing professor! He made me, someone who never liked art, into someone who can appreciate it now. Here is how you get an A: go to all classes, participate (VERY IMPORTANT), and show you care. I think I had a final and midterm with a quiz or two in the middle. Also presentation that is on a topic of your choice. No textbook, save money.

He's a wonderful teacher. Very friendly and very understanding. He has a German accent, so sometimes you really have to listen to what he is saying. Asks you to speak up a lot and you may have to reword what you say for him. You have to do the readings in order to participate in class. He will call on you, no matter what!

He's a good professor. He is very understanding. You don't really have to read the readings. He gave us an 8 page paper and he always tells you what he wants. The midterm and the final are kinda hard, it's basically memorization. Make sure you take notes because it will be in the final.

Fantastic professor. You will complete his course, no matter how much a layman, with a true grasp on art. You will never walk through a museum the same way again. A year later and it's still a fond memory. It's not an easy class, but it's rewarding and you always know exactly what is expected of you. Other professors could learn a lot from him.

He was a pleasure when I had him, but now looking back, I appreciate how wonderful he was even more. I had little interest prior to the class, but his passion and intellect are infectious. He may objectify you a bit, but if he does it's a good sign - it's funny too. If you follow his lead, taking this class will be a golden, memorable experience.

I took his online based class. He is straightfoward. You have to do all the work but that consists of submitting a 1-2 page paper on what you think of something weekly. Videos on the net were a great watch. 10 Page Final Paper on a modern work of art. still ok, he outlines everything. EASY 3 CREDITS TO SATISFY YOUR Art/Science req. for Stillman!

This professor is an example of how a college professor should be. He is really passionate about teaching, and knows how to make class interesting. Even if you have no interest in art, you'll have one when you leave his class. I looked forward to going. I've never learned so much in a class, stuff that you can actually apply to the real world.

I actually looked forward to this class every other day. Professor Heinrichs is a laid back person, but like someone else said dont let that fool you. He knows when someone is trying to b.s. him. The discussions make class interesting. Just show up to class and do the assignments on Blackboard, and dont forget to buy the book. He is worth taking
