He gives clear explanations of difficult topics like options. His explanation of valuation formulas makes the math easy. Overall a good class and a good professor.

This class has been the death of me. Not only is it impossible to get in contact with Professor Blose outside of class (don't even bother emailing him he will not respond) but he made being lectures miserable. The class was constantly correcting him for mistakes in examples provided, and he seemed to always think it was funny. Please retire.

I have never been more frustrated with a professor in my college career. I have to take this class for credit, but it is annoying that I'm paying to be in this course & not learning anything b/c of how poorly he lectures. He understands all the material, but he can NOT, to save his life, teach about it. Doesnt understand how to explain it to studts

Comment:
Blose goes off on unimportant tangents in class, confuses his numbers and formulas in calculations, and does not do a great job communicating something clearly. Many questions had to be asked for clarification on things. His exams are completely based off the study guides and homework isn't difficult which were the redeeming qualities of his class.

I am an A / B student, and currently am struggling to pass this class. Blose is one of the worst professors I've ever had. He spends the class going on rants not relevant to the material, and tests us on things never covered. Time to retire.

Blose spends way too much time in class going on tangents about random stuff, not nearly enough time on the material that matters. Avoid at all costs, the most ineffective professor I've ever had at GVSU,

The most boring professor I have ever taken. He is also like 70 and barely can use technology. He is also super paranoid about people using phones and laptops in class. He can be rude and annoying. Talks on and on about stuff that won't ever be on any tests.

He spending the entire lecture going off on rants not related to the material, making it impossible to pay attention. Tests are hard and the multiple choice questions are based off his lectures, so it is tough to do well. Don't bother trying to email him because he won't reply. Stock project is a cool learning experience.

He is one of the worst professors I have ever had at Grand Valley. He consistently messed up on the board and puts the wrong answer. If a professor always get the problem wrong and a student has to correct him, he should not be a professor! What he teaches in the class is pointless to our future trading.

Worst professor I have ever had! He writes the wrong numbers and or answers to example problems on the board which throws everything off frequently. He also does not respond to emails promptly if at all. He posts practice problems, but never promptly posts the answers even when you remind him in class or email him.

Super nice guy, bad professor. He usually doesn't sound like he knows what he's talking about and often just confuses himself and then has to spend an unnecessary amount of time backtracking. Students always have to correct him on the mistakes he makes. Tests are extremely long and difficult.

Larry Blose is the most incompetent professor I have EVER encountered. His tests are heinously hard, and he never covers all the test material in class. The only points in the class are from Tests and Homework; nothing else. So there is little room for error. Class consists of boring lectures on the white board where you never "learn" anything!

His lectures are impossible to follow. He cannot complete a thought before moving on to another, so your notes are impossible to decipher. Your grade is 3 exams. He constantly makes mistakes in his example problems so when you're studying things do not make sense.

He is a very good teacher. Teaches what you need to know. Lectures are a little boring. Not much homework, no long papers, no group projects. Tests are a little tough but if you take good notes and study you'll do fine.

Course could be far better. He confuses himself sometimes which in turn confuses the students. His tests can be difficult, you need to put time and effort into going over his practice problems to do well. He is a very knowledgeable professor who just has a hard time actually teaching material to students. Don't buy the text, just get stock-trak

BY far the worst class I have taken at GV. FIN 330 should be called Finance Legislation not Ethics. The few ethics based material you due study aren't even taught correctly and the exams are incredibly meticulous. If you are taking this thinking it will be like other ethics course then you are severely mistaken.

Professor Blose's lectures are long, boring, and hard to follow. He jumps around between topics, so it makes it extremely hard to follow along. He throws a lot of information at you (some of which he randomly adds) so you never know what you'll actually be tested on. Minimal power point. Exams are hard and not expected. Homework is light and easy.

Blose is a very knowledgeable professor who has been teaching for a long time. He knows how to approach complex topics like options and present them in a clear and understandable way. I genuinely looked forward to his class every day. The only downside is he has trouble verbalizing his thoughts sometimes and makes grading mistakes frequently.

His lectures are really boring but you have to go to class to receive the PowerPoints. Gives random quizzes which can be confusing. The midterm is all short answer and the first day of class he will tell you half the class will fail. Don't take him

Comment:
Good professor. He gives random quizzes about reading material he assigns, but they aren't hard and he gives you plenty of chances for extra credit on them. Homework load is pretty light overall. Always willing to help you understand something if you don't understand the concepts. Tests are a lot of short answer, but they aren't too bad.
