Comment:
In class he is so engaging and you can tell he's passionate about what he's saying. Class material can be very interesting. However, he is an impossibly tough grader. Unless you say exactly what he wants to hear in a paper, you likely won't receive a high grade. Try to address it, you'll receive a bland, slightly hostile email. Pretty unfortunate.

Dr. Bingham is a tough grader but he really loves his subject and cares about his students doing well. Be careful with Chicago style referencing! He has NO patience for any errors (even page numbers). Great guy, would definitely take again.

Lectures are all over the place and there never seems to be a solid structure to a lecture. Might be good for some students but I dislike this type of learning. The Thursday night lectures are interesting though, however, it's not them lecturing so that could be why...

Great guy and professor and nice addition to SUST1000 showing how history created the issues we face today. Really knowledgeable and tries hard to make the seemingly least interesting topics more interesting (ex: sewers in Paris and night soil). Exam and quizzes are mostly based on lectures and reading provided more knowledge.

Seems really knowledgeable however lectures are sort of boring and hard to follow, gives a lot of seemingly irrelevant information. Course is sustainability but has a lot of history/geography aspects. Who your TA is makes a huge difference, mine was an extremely tough marker, docked you for not talking enough and was all around sort of useless

Comment:
Unresponsive to student emails, and unapologetically short and rude when he does respond. Repeatedly gives assignments out with incomplete/vague instructions, and refines the instructions later as students ask for clarification. Deeply boring and specific lectures where he vaguely expects you to "understand the ideas". Do not recommend.

Super knowledgeable guy, very interesting to listen to. He sometimes skims topics, but explains them well if you ask him to clarify. Pretty fun and entertaining too, would totally take another one of his classes.

An absolute pleasure to have as a prof. He's pretty funny and is very charming in a nerdy sort of way. He loves it when you take the extra time to talk about something related to the subject that you are passionate about, and if you ask him tough questions. Very relaxed about assignments, I wrote 9 pages for a 12 page paper and still got a B+ on it

He is a pretty good prof, probably the best I had this year (however that isn't saying much). He tents to lose track of timing, at the end of the course we were about 30 years behind where we should have been. He loves Germany history you can tell that much, Although Germany isn't my interest, I still somewhat enjoyed this class.
