Comment:
I've taken Seeber twice, and I don't know what some people are talking about because I got a 99 in her first year midterm which is virtually unheard of in ENGL courses. She definitely grades fairly and if you put in the work you'll get a good grade. She is passionate about her era, and no, she doesn't want you reading coles notes; do the readings.

A very good prof, Dr. Seeber knows a TON about literature and gives good (if dense) lectures. You will need to do a lot of reading and take good notes to pass this course, so if you dont put in the effort it will show in your grade. However if you are struggling she will happily help you get where you need to be.

Dr. Seeber was an excellent prof. Had her for an 8am and she made lecture enjoyable and a class which I looked forward to attending. Her exam was very fair as she outlined exactly what she looked for in each section. The difficulty of the papers is evened out by the seminar and exam.

I had Dr. Seeber in my 3rd (18th Century Novel) and 4th years (Jane Austen), and I thought she was great! She's really knowledgeable and open to her students' input. She grades fairly but you're going to have to work hard for an A. She's a good lecturer - take lots of notes! Tristram Shandy is DENSE (like wow) but her enthusiasm makes it bearable.

She discourages reading the bios of the authors, because you might come to some too direct assumptions. Do it. Read the authors' bio, before the assigned reading. This is advice, a sincere one, and not bitterness for her failing me. Lool

Dr. Seeber is the nicest person you will ever meet! She is VERY caring, but also an EXTREMELY hard marker. Nothing you do will please her unless you want to be a master's student. Her lectures are AMAZING. However, beware of how much she expects from students. She expects way too much from her students and they can never live up to her standards.

Passionate about the subject matter, definitely a talented lecturer. Hilarious at dealing with in-class texters. HOWEVER, do not think that you're going to get a good mark. The highest mark that Ive heard of was a low eighty. At least a third of the class failed the mid-term exam, which she prepared us by saying it would be the "easiest exam ever"

I am currently enrolled in Professor Seeber's English Literature: Tradition and Innovation class. I'm not going to lie at first it was tough, but you get the hang of it, her lectures are EXTREMELY interesting and her passion shows through her explanation of the material. She is also lovely & very approachable! 100% RECOMMEND if ur a fan of English.

Another one of those professors who over-rates what she's teaching and when she speaks she goes all over the place. Also, everyone pretends that they completely understand Middle English because the professor expects us to, but this course is about learning to understand English, including Middle English! This is really more of a history class.

If your writing does not agree with her ideas you will not do well in this class. Creativity is not encouraged, it is stifled. Do not take any of her courses if you intend to use your own mind to disect works rather than regurgitating her words.

Absolutely loved having her as a prof. By far one of the best. The subject material bored me but she always managed to make it come to life. She is a great speaker and great lecturer. I would highly recommend taking any one of her courses, no matter the subject area.

Wonderful professor, she is very enthusiastic about her subject area and her enthusiasm makes lectures and books like Tristram Shandy less of a headache. Very welcoming to discussion in her lectures, she loves when students jump in to share an idea! She has a very friendly, warm personality. Very approachable

She seems to think that every nursery rhyme and three line poem (if over 300 years old) warrants a 5000 word essay. She described the movie "The Naked Gun" as pathetic compared to something like Swift's unfunny and lame political satire "Gulliver's Travels". How can I even respond to that drivel? Next prof!

this woman has no idea what it means to debate a topic. i really hope she learns that debate sparks creativity and further intrigue in students who might not participate all that much. her non-confrontational style frustrated the hell out of me! a difference of opinion and interpretation is healthy and should be nurtured, not prohibited!

Professor Seeber's classes are information packed and you really have to work, but she makes everyone feel intelligent in the subject area and makes an effort to ensure that every student understands all important concepts in the class. She is very easy to approach for help, and I would definately reccommend her classes!
