Slow talker, but knows exactly what he is talking about. If you pay attention, you should catch on to the material, and not struggle at all. I Benefitted a lot from the help of other students, and the assignments were very important, but not too difficult.

You need to attend lectures because he writes on the chalkboard for this course and you have to take down his notes. If you ask him to do more examples, he will! Examples will be gone over in tutorials too. A few tests and 6 assignments, in my opinion a reasonable workload. This guy is really smart, he knows what hes talking about. Good prof!

Lectures are critical in all of kasmi's classes (I've taken a few). Take good notes, as he can and will test you on topics discussed in class. Rarely uses anything but the textbook/paper package, so if you don't have notes, your in trouble. Very easy marking, but rarely willing to change grades after the fact.

70% of your entire mark is determined by 3 tests, with two of them being worth 30% each. There aren't any help or resources online, and the textbook is utterly useless. The only reason I passed this class is because of YouTube. Assignments are marked quick but inconsistently, and the notes he gives you are hard to copy as they are on a blackboard.

I don't know if the textbook was more confusing or if he was more confusing. He's a cool guy, cares about his students, but his teaching style is not very good. His notes are okay at best and he explains like things are obvious. He makes it more complicated than it should be.

He explains things pretty well, isn't condescending and is patient. Doesn't upload lecture notes. Gives you questions on assignments that he hasn't gone over in class, textbook is not particularly useful. No tutorial exercises or any worksheets to help you practise concepts.. Replies to emails fast but he gives short answers or ignores part of it.

I actually had to drop this class after paying for it because it was too difficult to understand and I was afraid it would hurt my GPA. You have to be very "smart" to be able to understand this class. It may have been easy for some but I had a very difficult time. It doesn't help that lectures aren't very engaging and very dry because of content.

Barely writes down any notes and expects you to be able to recall anything he spoke about during class. Likes to pile up assignments and tests right after holidays and weekends so don't expect any free time with this class. Likes to give a lot of fluff on his explanations and waste time on tiny topics.

Ali Kazmi is an amazing professor, his attitude of teaching is humble and straight forward. He encourages the class at the start of the semester for the PASS sessions, there are evident reasons why that is. Although PASS is optional, however it helps you clear alot of things. His marking criteria is straight forward so dont expect any concession.

Nice guy, very calm classroom environment. Explains things slowly and effectively. Class gets harder as it goes on, recommend going to all tutorials as well as PASS sessions to succeed.

Presents material in an organized disorganized way. Go to lectures as there is no online support. Material is sometimes hard but he does a good job of making it clear. Ask about assignment questions in office hours to make sure your on the right page as it can be hard to tell at times. Classes can interactive in a good way.

Kazmi is a good lecturer who makes the sometimes difficult concepts of formal logic easier to understand. The course is boring, but attending lectures will make it much easier.. His weekly assignments are easy and are great study material for the tests, as the material on the tests are vastly similar to the material on the assignments.

Kazmi is an absolute gem, and his lectures are very enjoyable. Do not skip class, as he posts nothing on D2L. The course really isn't hard, but it's a little too easy to fall behind.

Comment:
Professor Kazmi is objectively good as a lecturer; he clearly maps out and explains concepts to students and his assignments are very similar to the tests. Despite his good teaching, PHIL279 is a dry course that is both frustrating to learn and boring, so be ready to study a lot and understand little. He is not to blame for the boring course.

He's a good prof and writes clear notes. Does not post them online so going to lectures is a must. He's not a very good speaker so its important to pay close attention. I found the class extremely boring, dull and at times challenging.
